Halo 5 isn't in the worldwide top 10 and it's only #7 on the US chart? I remember people saying that if Microsoft can't trump Sony with Halo then there's no hope. Seems this Halo isn't doing as well as the previous installments. Does this mean the opinions are correct in regards to the console wars? What say you?

Third party sells consoles, which sells exclusives. If xbox was the console to go to for gta, cod ect, the sales of halo would be far greater

Halo isn't the series it used to be, simple as that.

Halo and Gears are not the draw they once were. They're a bit long in the tooth at this point and have lost a lot of their punch. Normally, it would be time to start thinking about new workhorse franchises but the problem is that Microsoft has invested a lot into acquiring these franchises and turning them into perennials. I'm not sure about Gears but it's obvious they're going to flood the market with the Halo brand, which has the potential to drive the long term value down even further.

Regardless, Microsoft should probably start looking for the next big IP if they want to stay in the videogame market.
