It looks really nice but I wouldn't buy a PS4 to play it. Maybe I'll wait for the 4K remaster GOTY edition on PS5

Nah, not interested after they completely destroyed the FFVII ATB combat system. FFVII is one of my favourite JRPGs ever, I won't buy anything that in some way disrespects the original.
Nintendo fans love Ni No Kuni 2 and Dragon Quest 11 for PlayStation 4 more, i think :) And Persona 5 of course ^^

What if the new system ups the challenge in an interesting way? Or makes the game more immersive? |
I wouldn't care about that. Actually, I'd feel like I'm playing a different game, and that's not what I want for FFVII:R. It's not a remake if you completely change the battle system. I'm in to SE changing the battle system each FF, and I like that because it keeps the franchise fresh. But if you remake a game, don't crush it and make an entirely different experience. It's disrespectful to the original. A lot.
Not really. I'm not a fan of FFVII. It's my most overrated game of all time. I'll give Square Enix their due though. It looks technically impressive. For me personally, I don't think they'll make enough changes to the game for me to change my opinion about it. I hope it turns out well for people that did enjoy the game.

I was extremely hyped for this game until talks about changes in the combat system began. I played the original FF VII on PC and were amazed by its story, characters and combat system. It was also the first JRPG I've ever played and hence my introduction to the genre and later to much better games, like Chrono Trigger, Suikoden II and Final Fantasy VI. To be honest, after watching the new trailer, I'd rather the NX gets the port of the original that is available now for PC and PS4.
If it doesn't come to the NX and I finally cave in and buy a PS4, it will be to play Valkyria Chronicles again, Star Ocean 5 and other JRPGs that are not available on Nintendo's consoles, but the only Final Fantasy game I might buy for the PS4 is World of Final Fantasy.

I'm a Nintendo fan and Ni No Kuni is one of the worst JRPGs that I've ever played, but you're correct about Dragon Quest XI.
Well, I would be a lot more excited if it came to NX. x ) I would buy it a lot sooner, that's for sure. I would wait a while longer to get it on PS4, as I am no interest in it at the moment. I am happy with what consoles I have now.

Well, DQXI is coming to the 3DS, but, yeah, I'd love Ni No Kuni 2 and P5 to release in Nintendo consoles. P4 is one of my favourite RPGs ever, and I expect P5 to follow that path. I guess I'll have to buy a PS4 soon. I won't buy FFVII:R, that's for sure.

I think you are confused on the difference between a Remake and a Remaster. It sounds like you wanted a Remaster. A Remaster would be the original game with upgraded graphcis and sound. A Remake is taking an old game and completely redoing it from the ground up.
I can understand your trepidation. It sort of reminds me of how I feel about Lunar Silver Story versus Lunar Silver Star Story complete. While I like both games and in many ways the remake was superior, they made a few changes to the story that slighly altered Ghaleon's motivation and I've always felt those changes made him a weaker villain overall.
