My question is, do we want an experience this realistic ? I mean I like to play God of War but if I were to play God of War VR and I was actualy killing ppl with my own hands and eviscerating centaurs, and bashing ppls skull to a pulp Id probably throw up and feel disgusted. Do we want an horror game so realistic some one might fly into a panic and have a cardiac arrest ? Do we want to feel liek were actualy in the Vietnam War shooting ppl, seing our friends die and gettng shot ourselves ? Seriously I dont understand why ppl want it to be this realistic.

The thing about videogames is you can get the experience you want. For example something like everybody gone to the rapture in VR. Slow paced experiences.  LA Noire. Less violent things. Nobody says that VR has to be realistic bloods and guts. It can be simply socializing with others on a tropical island. Play detective in a jurassic park. Walk on mars. Race Cars Pilot things etc. Do things you cant do IRL and see things nobody has seen yet.

I dont care about playing God of War in VR or shooting people. I want to see things that do not exists yet I am interested in the potential. VR will create its own form of entertainment. The better the hard and software becomes the more things will happen in and around VR we do not expect today.

Ye but once the technology exists ppl will use it for some questionable stuf, and than were threading very dangerous ground, the kind of stuf ppl can make and how harmfull it can be to ppl is realy worrying. Itd be awesome if we could be sure wed not have someone playing a serial killer simulator on VR for example, but ppl are fked up...

Here's the thing I don't understand. People are psyched for this cause it's new. But it's not new. VR has been around for ages. There is also the part where this could very easily have been done (what's in the video) on the Wii with motion control. The motion plus it's near 1:1 which is the same tech as this without the headset.
Well, that's what I'm seeing from it anyway.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

What matters is what you experiance when you put on the VR headset.

Exactly, people worried about how they 'look' to others are sacrificing vanity for fun.  What’s the point of that!

If you haven’t tried VR yet, I suggest you do.  It’s one of those things that you have to experience to really get.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Elite: Dangerous.

Seriously, you need to check that game out on PC with a good Rift or Vive setup. Mind will be blown. Cannot wait for the release of the CV1 or Vive to get it myself.

I love Fantastic Contraption! I bet this is sweet in VR!

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I'm not excited for this because it's new.

And yeah, VR has been around for a while.  Very crappy, very limited VR.  Some users here still argue that these new VR are still not VR in any sense.  I don't agree with that sentiment at all.

This is Sega VR, it's 24 years old.  But here's the thing, it sucks.

The new VR systems are vastly better in display technology and tracking technology, and they have far better hardware to run the software too.  Motion control was way older than the Wii, but the Wii was the first time to really popularize it, and really the first time it could be considered good.  We're very much having that same thing here.  No, it's not new, but it's finally good.

The headset is the most crucial part though.  It's the part that makes you think you're in a different reality.  With VR, I can turn around, crouch down and pick something virtual off the ground, while looking at it.

I can't possibly do that with the Wii, and that means it's missing the biggest bonus to the experience.

The ability to look down and see what's on the virtual ground.  The ability to literally turn your head and look around in the virtual world.  The ability to hear different sounds while you're turning your head.  And much more is way beyond what we can do with the Wii.

I'm excited for VR because it's a childhood dream of mine.

Good luck with that.

I'm glad you pointed out that it's "new" by it not being new. That was unarguable... :-/

It's unlikely to happen due to liability. There is so much they are going to have to have a disclaimer for that it would be ridiculous. It'll be awesome if there becomes a licensicing system to own a VR system! lol.

Except I didn't.....  I said

"I'm not excited for this because it's new." because you said people are only excited about it because it's new.

What I mean is it being new is not the reason I'm excited for it.

Not sure what you mean by that.

People are going to hurt themselves with the machine if it's much beyond sitting and swinging a remote. Liability.

Not necessarily.

An idea I have is to use a camera and let the game pause if someone gets too close.  Well, it would do a lot more than that, but that's just the jist.

I'm more worried about everything else in the room, as well as the TV of course lol. Certinaly a huge obstical to overcome.

I will get one only for doax3
