Forums - Gaming - The only way so far that VR looked cool

Don't get me wrong, since i used some weeks ago, I now believe that VR can work, but yet the videos trying to reproduce the experiences so far just didn't do anything for me. From people laughing at things that you dont see, to montage of actors pretending to be using the thing, till the simple showing what people are looking at in the headset, the VR marketing so far has been poor all around.

Except for a  short moment in the game awards show, they finally found a way to show you how using vr really feels like:

Original video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnWb3bkaEAs

This is the only thing that really show you that you get inside the world with VR, that you are really there doing thing in a 1:1 manner, like in the real world. If anyone here are wornking in a VR game or experience, or get asked about how should the things should be shoulded be put ona a video, this is the way.

Imagine if every thing that you saw so far about vr got this treatment, would no us be way more convinced that youare inside the world when you put the glasse on?

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Nah man, there is one other way it looks cool: When it's on your head (the HMD I mean).

I don't see how that is the problem. It was just a little play on your threads title: "The only way so far that VR looked cool".

who cares what you look like to others on the outsides?
What matters is what you experiance when you put on the VR headset.

When you decide to read the OP and not only the title you will understand.

I have read the OP. Doesn't mean I can't crack a joke about the title. Or is that some unwritten rule?

Wow, ritgh, and here i was thinking  that marketing on tv and videos was still a thing that convienced people to try or buy stuff.

I'm still not convinced about this whole VR stuff. Doesn't do anything for me so far but who knows what the future will bring. I have a feeling though that it will be a commercial failure.

My question is, do we want an experience this realistic ? I mean I like to play God of War but if I were to play God of War VR and I was actualy killing ppl with my own hands and eviscerating centaurs, and bashing ppls skull to a pulp Id probably throw up and feel disgusted. Do we want an horror game so realistic some one might fly into a panic and have a cardiac arrest ? Do we want to feel liek were actualy in the Vietnam War shooting ppl, seing our friends die and gettng shot ourselves ? Seriously I dont understand why ppl want it to be this realistic.
