Forums - Nintendo - Fatal frame 5 (project zero MOBW) launch in the west has been handled terribly.

Limited edition run is better than no run at all like in the US. If that's what they needed to price it at to make a profit on the printing i have no problem with it.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I agree, but I don't think launching a physical version in NoA or a standalone version in NoE would help

Manufacturing for physical copies isn't cheap, and the sales would be modest regardless, so they probably wouldn't be able to make it back.. it's already amazing to see them localize it in the first place

As for NoE, most people that want the game to buy the physical version, would probably want to get some extras so it wouldn't be that helpful either..

I disagree. Knowing the series sales history and the realities of running a business, I believe Nintendo were very kind in giving fans the opportunity to play the game and I'm thankful for that.

i am also thankful for KeioTecmo (the devoloper behind Fatal Frame 5) releasing Deception 4 and its Addon, Nobunagas Ambition and many other nieche games in the West with plenty of physical copies avaible and on all kind of Platforms.

In this case Exclsuivity is totally not justified if Nintendo doesnt support the IP properly, this is an AAA game by Wii U standards (16gb). There is no Excuse why this isnt getting a physical release but a mobile like game like Kirby Rainbow brush does. I am pretty sure KeoTecmo chose the Wii U at the time because of its gamepad, the Exclsuivity deal was just a bonus

Yes, it does suck. They should have had a physical run. Heck, I would take a limited run print even. That's much better than digi only. The Wii U can't even hold that much space alone. It was stupid, and I hope they don't do it again.

8gb Wii U owners have it the worst. I shouldn't have to say more.

It's a niche title.

At least Nintendo is offering the option to play it, which is far better than them not releasing it over here period.

They should do more digital-only releases of games they won't release, at least you get to play the game, which is the important thing, ultimately, the box art and all that is just extraneous stuff ... you can enjoy the game on your Wii U right now, which is the most important thing.

The Wii U can even basically use thumb drives as extra storage (even though I don't think Nintendo reccomends it) ... upgrading the storage on the Wii U is easy.

if its so expensive making physical copies why did they do it for PAL regions in the first place and for a limited run? It really doesnt cost as much to make physical copies as you think

Fatal frame 5 has been treated woefully by NOA & NOE. There has been no physical release in north america and the only physical release in europe has been the overpriced limited edition. You might say buy it digital but at 16gb it is not download friendly (remember digtal sales are still in the extreme minority on consoles). And what about those of us that want a physical copy, that like cover art, a manual, a disc and a nice blue case? we are being screwed. how does nintendo ever expect games like this to suceed when it seems that they conceded defeat from the outset by not releasing a standard physical copy (Plus the only coverage they gave the game was a few seconds in a nintendo direct). No matter how much i want this game it is not worth  £75 ($120) and rising. Rant over.

its actually worth the price if Nintendo never releases it in physical form. Its more worth than alot of common games having plenty of physical games avaible.

-its a cult classic

-its exclsuive

-its the only way to play it physical in a language you understand, espacially if they cut off the servers one day

Sounds like a Pnazer Dragoon Saga type game in 10 years which would be sad for the series but good as a collector

But at the same time, it's not as easy as you think..

You have to spend resources, not only money, and have to get distributers etc which isn't that easy. Why spend the effort, when you can save a lot just by releasing digital? NoA is not NoE so NoE probably felt that they could invest in a SE version

To be honest, I don't think this game was going to be profitable in the first place so I'm happily surprised that they localized it in the first place. This game won't sell much in the first place even if it was physical as well

Project Zero 2 Remake in PAL region outsold every release in NA.
