Forums - Gaming - Forbes: Sony Unlocked 7th core to Settle Internet Debates

Another article from a Forbes contibuter, following another contributers; PS4 is an ISIS communication device. Now they are claiming the new core will have little to no effect on gaming performance and that it was more or less done to settle debates in forums such as this about "power".

http://www.forbes.com/sites/olliebarder/2015/12/02/unlocking-a-new-cpu-core-on-ps4-is-great-but-more-is-going-on-here/

Does this lack objectivity and foresight? Is he not seeing PSVR and new AAA titles that push the hardware on the "Horizon" and the need to give dev's a bit more under the hood!?

Any and all of your thoughts below please! :)

What in the Blue hell? What debates about power are they talking about and how do they know it will do hardly anything? If it doesn't do much at all then why were there any debates about power?

The PS5 Exists.

So Sony put the entire R&D Team or what not to unlock this core to please internet fanboys?

Seems legit Forbes.

Yeah, I don't exaclty get the whole point of the piece at all. Is he so naiive to think that Sony would get their engineers together to unlock a 7th core through a firmware update just so fanboys can toot on about it online....

Then he goes on to say PS4 architecture is nothing compared to a PC, of course but a PC doesn't have the benefit of a more or less static spec and then being developed for "to the metal". As we all know, which makes his point less objectively clear.... I mean, they can't be that easily compared.

I'm sure he is harmless enough though... after snooping! LOL

Title probably should say forbes blogger? He's using their platform rather than speaking on their behalf correct?

Looks like Sony has ran over Forbes dog or something.

It doesn't make any sense though. The PS4 was always accepted as the most powerful console and the only reason there was any doubt was because of MS allowing developers to use the 7th core ... but if the 7th core doesn't make much difference for the PS4 then why was there any debate about power because surely the same conclusion should be drawn about the 7th core on the XB1, unless there's some bias ...

"In that, with this new core available for development it means that on paper the PS4 is again more powerful than the Xbox One."

I laughed at this sentence

Yeah - when i read that earlier today i laughed too. The PS4 has always been more powerful than the XB1. The only thing the xb1 has over the ps4 is an ~ 8-10% higher clock speed on the CPU. Even then, clock speeds do not necessarily equate to 100% to power.
