Forums - Gaming - From a Skyrim Lover: I can't get into Fallout 4

That's what happened with me with Fallout 3. I'm a huge Skyrim fan, but when I played Fallout, everything felt like a chore. It just seemed like "Oh do this just because"
I don't really know what it was. But the franchise just isn't for me.

I started out by doing just that. I did the first quest where you help preston and his gang; then set up sanctuary. Did a couple small things then went to the Corvega to help him get rid of the raiders.

After that I just walked around trying to explore and get lost in the world. It didn't happen.

I think a big problem I'm having honestly is the difficulty. I played Skyrim from the start at normal and slowly ramped it up to the hardest difficulty as I got stronger/more knowledge of the combat.

But in Fallout 4 I had to turn it all the way down to very easy. I'm not a pro gamer, but I'm quite experienced so it feels weird. I had a tough time finding things to feel me. I'm searching everywhere but can't seem to find anything lol. I think that's a big part about why I'm not enjoying it.

Also I have 3/4 of my HP bar full of RAD and I know you supposed to find somebody in Diamond city to help you with that but I can't find her. And I don't want to google it lol.

Ah sounds familiar. Yeah early on you can easily get in trouble with the rads. I switched to easy too in the beginning, then very easy and now I'm back up to normal. You can find radaway in med kits and chests or on people, same as stim paks. Otherwise you need a doctor, the first one I found was in Bunker hill. Look for an Obelisk to the east.

There's always a bit of getting used to the graphics in the beginning. At the start it's still hard to identify what you can pick up and what is scenery. But it gets easier. There are a lot of things to find in the supermarket on the way to the Corvega plant. After a while you'll have plenty of radaway and stim paks.

Use vats with feral ghouls, they always give you rads when they touch you. Melee is not a good idea with those if you don't have anything against radiation. Sweep the cursor over shelves and such, there are plenty healing items to be found, especially in all the places raiders like to camp out in.

I was the opposite actually. When Skyrim first came out, all of my friends were hugely in to it so I gave 4 or 5 tries, but I just couldn't get into the world. Bought a PS4 with Fallout 4 when it launched and got engrossed right away.

This is not the best Fallout in the franchise, but for me comparing Fallout 4 to Skyrim is kinda a weird comparison.

I know plenty of Elder Scrolls lovers who dislike Fallout games and vice versa. I love both, but can see how they really have huge atmospheric differences.

A warrior keeps death on the mind from the moment of their first breath to the moment of their last.

It was my goty for the first 3 hours, then it bored me and i started playing mgs v again
the combat is boring, it is too much like new vegas which i recently played and really enjoyed, the graphicsa re terrible and the open world is really not that fun whe you hava already seen all there is too se

I think the style is a little more particular and some people just aren't into it as much. Who knows what makes a game attractive to us? Some of us like it and some of us don't. There have been plenty of games that everyone loved that I just couldn't get into, and it didn't mean anything was wrong with it--it just wasn't for me.

Sorry to hear this one isn't quite for you. It's a bummer when that happens.

It is a bummer! I really want to love it :(
