Forums - Sony - MonHun Dev: Already made 3 titles for 3DS, want to work on high-end game next (PS4?)

I don't think Nintendo is going to let this franchise go at this point so most likely NX

Welcome to NX.

The console Monster Hunter games don't sell nearly as well, the "real" Monster Hunter are the portable games and as far as I can tell, Nintendo is only one making a next-gen portable.

The vita won't suddenly die when the NX comes out.  The vita is more powerful then the 3DS but that makes no difference.  The NX handheld jump over the 3DS will big but it will only put it about as far ahead of the vita as it was ahead of the 3DS.  Maybe it will be around the same considering Nintendo might want a really low price.

And the 3DS proved the handhelds success isn't dependant on power so why would it being more powerful mean anything now.. If anything dev time for handheld games will become harder and take longer.

They have been developing 3D games on the 3DS. They may have a very different understanding of "high-end".

They'll probably do some spin offs for the PS4... even the PS3 got some. The best case scenario I can see for Sony is the next main title releasing for both NX/PS4.

This is my opinion also :)

Recently PSV is quite often even selling worse than WiiU in Japan, something that likely won´t change for the upcoming weeks this year and the gap between both this years sales will likely end up just only under 200k units in favour of PSV, despite a constant flow of games. Not exactly good prospects and definetely a weak performance unless selling close to WiiU suddenly became something to be proud of. 2016 will see even further decline to already weak sales, despite SQEX efforts/lineup, which at best will just soften a bit the blow. The decline is undeniable and seeing how the latest Atelier release sold better on PS4 than PSV we are already seeing first hints of further decay in "relevance" even in its little otaku niche. I doubt 2017 will have a comparable lineup to 2016 and the new handheld generation hype will just give it the final blow.

I'd love if they made a PC project that isn't in the vein of an MMO and more like MH. Technically we have ARK but I want to see what Capcom can do with high end hardware.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Huge PS4 sales boost (particularly in Japan), but I think it could be NX, or NX and PS4 release. X1 should be an easy port from PS4 but that doesn't mean it will happen...

PS, PS2, Gameboy Advance, PS3, PSP, PS4, Xbox One

Pretty accurate analysis. There's nothing coming to Vita now that I see pushing hardware in a significant way. 2017 will probably be its last year as a system with many releases. Was fun while it lasted though.

I just hope Nintendos next handheld is a genuine upgrade over the Vita in power.

The point is there are so many titles in Japan that have their fanbase on the Vita.  Nintendo like always will have the major titles like yokai,  pokemon,  monster hunter,  dragon quest etc but the vita will continue to get support from it's current supporters.

If anything the new launch helps the vita.  It will be the cheapest handheld,  not much weaker and will already have a large growing library.

If anything getting 2 dragon quest handheld titles and a final fantasy next year suggests it's here for the entire next gen in Japan.  And those titles will push sales far more than anything that's come this year.

With ps4 now growing nicely the ps4/psv combo will remain the standard for so many devs.  the combined install base will be close to 10m by the end of next year.
