The vita won't suddenly die when the NX comes out. The vita is more powerful then the 3DS but that makes no difference. The NX handheld jump over the 3DS will big but it will only put it about as far ahead of the vita as it was ahead of the 3DS. Maybe it will be around the same considering Nintendo might want a really low price.
And the 3DS proved the handhelds success isn't dependant on power so why would it being more powerful mean anything now.. If anything dev time for handheld games will become harder and take longer.
