Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 Remote Play for PC/Mac being worked on by Sony

What does this feature actually do? Does it let me play PS4 games through my pc (screen)?
But it still needs a PS4 to be switched on, and using the PS4 controller.

If so, what's the usecase for this feature?? Why just not play on the PS4 itself?

I don't see the value in the feature.

My ps4 is in the basement in my "man cave". When my kids are awake, I stay up stairs with them.

Sometimes we use the main floor tv for princess movies/ other kid shows. Also, their bedrooms are on the third floor and while they are napping I like to be within earshot; and so I sit on the main floor.

Lastly, my wife (and in my experience, women in general) for some psychological reason feels that I'm spending time with her more when im in the room while she watches her shows.

In all of these cases, I bust out my vita/galaxy tab and remote play. The tablet is great because i can use a ds4 and have R2,R3,L2,L3 and the touchpad; but the battery struggles even while plugged in. My laptop would resolve this issue by simply having a stronger power system.

Nice little feature that about 1% will ever use. Happy for those who care.

Well, even in that case, it would be 300 000 PlayStations used in that way, not to shabby :). I know that Xbox through W10 has proven quite popular so I guess this will be too.

My coworker said that xb1 streaming is terrible, and that steam and ps4 streaming is miles ahead. He's kinda also a pc/xb1 die hard too.

Well, your friend must have crappy wifi, be a liar or mistaken Miracast for streaming or something like that :). I've used it on several devices at home that has W10 and can hardly notice any latency at all, even at 1080p 60fps with Halo 5. It's amazing the quality they get and I have no doubt Sony will achieve the same results.

Even if he has crappy wifi... why does steam compress and handle netcode better?

Online on Windows 10 PCs and both XB1 and the W10 PC have to be on the same home network. Try again.

Lump this in with the many new features of this gen's consoles I have no use for. Great, I guess.
