An ambassador program?

Yes, an ambassador-like program would be enough and satisfying for me (and I believe for most people as well). But whoever does this should not market it like Nintendo did with the 3DS, I mean, don't do the "here's the X program as an excuse! Pls Accept it!". It would be smarter to offer it like an incentive to jump into "next gen", or next console, next "thing", whatever... I think you know what I mean. :P

Maybe their gamepads will be compatible with Zelda HD, transfer some of your games to the NX... It's hard to know for sure.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Interesting idea, maybe this would work since the gamepad seems to have a bit of memory and NFC capabilities.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Yes I would mind because I bought the PS4 in mind, thinking it would have a great backlog of games, not just a few.

"There is only one race, the pathetic begging race"

Well I wouldn't invest in a console like that regardless of if it were Sony or MS. I'm also usually not a first year adopter. So given your circumstance and my preference, I would eagerly await their next console in hopes that the main issues were resolved.

Would preffer they wouldn't do it... but being the sucker I am, I would still buy the console.

only in a world where there is no competition.

Nintendo's biggest issue with the wiiU was releasing hardware that couldn't really distinguish itself from hardware that was already 8yrs old. They didn't give everyone else a reason to buy it. Everyone else just decided to wait for the new version of what they were already playing. If Nintendo made hardware that could match the PS4 or XB1 in the WiiU, and had garnered a following of 10M by the time those consoles released everything would be very different now. .

this basically applies to jumpstarting a "premature" generation in 2017 by Sony or MS. would there be enough in those consoles to differentiate it from the PS4/Xb1. if there isn't. there the state of cross gen gaming then will be significantly worse than it is now. and we would basically just have the cheaper 30fps consoles by the more expensive 60fps consoles.

No its way too soon.

It depends on what "new console" means. It's very likely that there will be a PS4/XB1 revision that can at a minimum stream 4k video. I can't imagine a PS5/XB2 coming out so soon though.

Hypothetically speaking, I wouldn't mind if either MS or Sony released a new console under those circumstances but trust is easily not gained back if they attempt it ...

I'm ready for all three to release new consoles even if MicroSony are not in as bad a situation as the hypothetical in the OP. Games are already pretty weak, I cannot imagine a couple years down the road. Indies and smaller more ambitious games are going to be big this gen me thinks, as the typical recycled garbage don't have much room to grow in terms of graphics.
