Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo marketing manager on childish commercials and no XCX advertisement (Latin America)

True, but it would be better if they tried to at least advertise it in some way rather than just leave it..

Re: The marketing to kids comment
Does anybody expect them to ramp up marketing toward the hardcore audience for an effectively dead console in a market that leans more to PlayStation than anywhere else in the world (and is smaller than EU/US/Japan)? It's Latin America we're talking about here. It would be different if Scott Moffitt said the same thing.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X
Ehh, I'm torn on this one. On one hand, the Wii U is dead and all that other stuff I said above...........on the other hand, this sounds like a lack of faith. I don't know what to say about this one.

That's the type of attitude of an IP owner who doesn't want to expand the audience of a franchise ...

I seriously wonder how much faith Nintendo actually has in some of their other AAA grade game series like Metroid and Star Fox ...

Those are some pretty basic marketing notions, but they are not wrong.

I believe she is quite right about XCX, if the user base was huge you could get people who don`t play RPGs to to try it out, but as it is, the game is not enough to sell the system to non-rpg fans and rpg fans already know about it.

As far as i know, game commercials are rare here in Brazil, unless we are talking about really big IPs like CoD, FIFA and AC. I remember seeing some more during the PS4/X1 launch, but after some months it went silent again.

Nintendo dosent oficially sell to Brasil anymore.Shops import the games and all, but there isnt a official distributor anymore. But even if there were, Nintendo is somewhat weak In Brasil and Latin America. It wouldnt make much sense to waste much money on commercials for XCX in these regions.

I know.

I just meant that games in general (not only from Ninty, but also from Sony/MS) don't really get commercials around here. That could be different in other LATAN countrys, but since Brazil is the biggest market here, it could very well be the default behavior of game companies here.

Of course, Brazil does have a huge tax, (waaay) higher than other countries. So maybe there are no commercials because of segmentation.

These days I saw some commercials for Battlefront, FIFA 16 and PS4, but it was on a movie channel.

I see, makes more sense around here than in open channels i think.

Yeah, probably, since consoles are expensive here. But it would be cool if someday they aired gaming ads on open channels like they did when the XB1 launched. It was... just cool.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I have never seen a Sony, Nintendo or Micro commercial in my country. There is the occasional mention of console prizes in variety shows from fast-food chains and stuff though.

Weirdly enough videogames are part of popular culture here.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Iwata: Xeno X will be a big holiday title in the West.
NoA: We don't give a fuck, Wii U is dead, lol.

Perfect year of Nintendo's failures.
