Themselves
Nintendo shouldn't buy Sega - just Sonic. Give Sonic to Nintendo EAD and you'd get the first excellent Sonic game in more than a decade.

Their awesome 3rd party support for one. Their lack of devlopers out side of Japan, their overall xenophobia.
They desperately need to expand their workforce, that's for sure.
This gen has made it abundantly clear that they don't have the manpower at present to deliver an steady stream of HD-level games.
They should have taken note of the problems other devs went through early in the 7th gen, and used the boom times of the Wii and DS to prepare for the additional workload.

Not worth it.
Rare is a hollow shell of their former glory.
They need more western developers like Retro Studios. Western developers have been dominating the console business in the past few years and Nintendo needs to invest in them furthermore. They contracted Next Level Games to make games exclusively for them in the future which is good but in my opinion they should open an EAD Studio somewhere in the west.

True, but I feel like thats because they I have to work with Microsoft. I feel like they would work well with Nintendo again.

all of the software developers / employees that made Rare so great back in the day have long since left the company. its just a name now. I don't see why people don't get that. the ones who made Rare magic in the 90s are spread out across a bunch of companies now
