Yakuza 6 Will Show Results of Developing Exclusively for PS4; Will Challenge the Limits of Games

In a press release sent today, the Japanese arm of Sega made a quite promising statement about the upcoming Yakuza 6 (Ryu Ga Gotoku 6), that will be released in Japan in fall 2016. The publisher wants gamers to experience the new evolution of the Yakuza series, that has been achieved by developing exclusively for the PS4. After ten years since the first chapter released in 2015, Sega intends to continue to challenge the limit of games.

That’s why the Yakuza series has gone through an extensive evolution, and kept creating new challenges with every game. Customers are encouraged to look forward to Yakuza: Kiwami and Yakuza 6, which are the “extreme” (“kiwami” in Japanese) of entertainment for grown ups. Considering how previous cross-generation games of the series have suffered a bit from releasing on PS3 as well, I can’t say I’m not eager to see what Sega will manage to do with Yakuza 6, that will make the jump to PS4 exclusive.

I should really get into this series. I heard that Yakuza 4 is a good place to start. Is that true? I only have a ps4 and ps3...

Hopefully this makes it West as well. I'm a bit worried since Yakuza 5 is coming so late to the ps3 at the start of the crazy holiday rush.

I read that as challenging the limit of every game in existence on any platform, instead he just means the limits of the game and the Yakuza series itself.

Also sensational article at best.

Both Yakuza 3 &4 on PS3 has video summaries of all previous Yakuza games to get you up to date before starting the game.  I would start with Yakuza 4 as you'll skip the need to play part 3 (It's a good game but probably the least favorite in the main series so I wouldn't recommend playing it first for newcomers).

Makes me wonder if Yakuza 5 will have summaries of the first 4 Yakuza games, which I hope so as it's been awhile.
