So.................. Nintendo fans are now responsible for what Nintendo's marketing. SMH.

No. They are responsible for accepting lower standards in hardware and online functionality. I'f they had caused a ruckus near launch things could have been different. They only reason I didn't buy one was the fact that the SD card I paid 15 quid on ebay for has twice the HDD space of the Wii U. Pity

How ridiculous. There is no accepting lower standings. A company is not a democracy. This is very simple: there is a product to wich you perceive value. Are you interested or not? This is not about Nintendo fans like they are a sentient collective, that is ludicrous and only an atempt at starting trouble. This is simply like every product on every market. And what you perceive as value is diferent than what someone else perceives as value and neither is less legitimate. If you personally see value in it you buy, if you don't you don't. Theres no "let's try to manipulate this company".

Or not.

There are few things as ridiculous as blaming customers for the fate of products. That is obviously impossible.

Just as easily you can blame all that didnt buy the product for its failure. Say the Dreamcast for example.

At the end of the day, only the manufacturers can directly influence the fate of their product on how they design, market, produce and communicate its value.

You, sorry to say, are only looking for a fight. Even on the points you raise, i doubt they would have made a difference just like they didnt for the Dreamcast.

I'd agree with you if it wasn't for this:

Also,

Dreamcast was actually a good system.  It failed for a whole host of other reasons that the Wii U failed.  It also failed before Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, etc.   Not an Apples to Apples, I'm afraid.

That makes no sense. That is exactly one of the things i said. On that video Sony communicates the value of their system in an efficient way.

And yes, exactly because the DC had all those awesome features the OP mentions and still bombed. Its not wether it has feature X or Y. Its about how much value consumers perceiva. Aka its wether people think its worth the asking price. Features can add to value but price is also a variable. Had the Wii U launched at 200€ maybe we would be singing a different tune.

I would have to agree.

While poor financial results surely play a role in how Nintendo chooses to handle their business, the voices of their most dedicated fans always come first. As a result, their sympathy for those fans will inevitably be their downfall.

This. That's why I don't understand the people that defend every wrong decision they make. That's not going to help the company, but sink it.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

So you're telling me it's my fault that I want what Sony gives me, from Nintendo. Your logic is flawed. By the low sales. People are directly telling Nintendo what they want, right now. It's Nintendo who doesn't care to listen and find a balance. It's not my fault if the president paints the white house pink. And then everyone says change the buildings name.

Xbox one /Ps4 launch...? They would be different machines if people ps3/360 "fans" as in the hardcore, voiced their opinions. Nintendo "fans" just voice how Nintendo can do no wrong. Pity.

They were trying to break conventions. Nintendo didnt do anything that radical.

I don't know about you, but I vote with my wallet.

This year, apart from two Mario Kart games (and a Wii U, I admit), I have not bought a single Nintendo-published game.

I mooched off free stuff from Club Nintendo, though!

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
