Forums - Gaming - The 8 video game controllers even worse than Steam's

How anyone could like the N64 controller was beyond me ...

The guy who designed it was probably clueless about the ergonomics ...

As for the steam controller been better than the N64 controller, it's just as shitty in my eyes ...

Around the Network

The N64 controller was confusing, somewhere between the NES and SNES as far as comfortable grip goes, and the analog stick broke easy. Oh yeah, and I hated how literally tacked on the rumble pack and memory card were. At the end of the day, it was functional (unless broken of course), but I never enjoyed using it. I'd put it on par with the original Xbox controller. I don't put much stock in overlooking flaws because of how "important" or "revolutionary" something was.

The original Atari 2600 controller is probably the reason so many people have arthritis today.  I remember putting it down between levels to smooth out my cramped fingers then grabbing it up right as the next level started.  An absolute killer during intense gameplay like Defender or Yar's Yars' Revenge.

Yes, I remember that ache on the back of your hand.  And the wrist, argh!

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Tell me a funny joke!

If the N64 controller confused you then I can see why you found it uncomfortable.

Then again, if it confused you, how the hell do you play games on controllers with dual analog, 4 face buttons, 2 shoulder buttons, 2 triggers and a touch pad?

Snippity! Going straight from SNES to N64, I remember the initial wtf factor being huge. PSX basically only added a second set of shoulder buttons (not very trigger-like at that point) and grips to the SNES controller, very easy to adapt aside from symbols instead of letters. If there's a "brats / fogies react" video with it, the results wouldn't shock me. The confusing point isn't a particularly important one, but it is a descriptor not often applied to gen 4 or later controllers.
