Nintendo Announces Wii U Bundle With Pokken Tournament For Japan

Nintendo is planning to offer a Wii U bundle featuring Pokken Tournament in 2016. Consumers in Japan who are interested in purchasing the console and the upcoming fighting game will be able to buy them both as part of a single package when it arrives in the region on March 18. A similar bundle and a solid release date have yet to be announced for North America or Europe, but the game is still on track to launch in both regions during the first half of next year.

hopefully NoA and NoE release this bundle in the states and Europe.

Given this is Pokemon, I could see Nintendo at least putting out a limited bundle everywhere. Good sign here, hopefully caries over.

Here in Japan the Wii U bundles have been consistently going up in price. What I want to know is, will this continue the trend of slight increases, hold price or decrease a little.

I'm trying to figure out if Nintendo are really trying or not. The price of the bundle will answer that question.

Next year the Wii has a better line up then this year which leads me to believe they will not launch a wii u successor until 2017. They probably need that extra year to get the goodwill back with the 2016 line up. And the console life cycle will be more respectable in length then.

Whereas the 3DS is already on its last legs so next year is almost a certainty for its successor.

Nice! Hopefully it's actually priced reasonably. Stop increasing the price of your bundles, Nintendo.

At least it's launching with the game, unlike Splatoon and MK8.

Pokken will be 2016's MK8/Splatoon, releasing right at the end of May. (The 27th/28th)

Makes sense..

Star Fox would be a great bundle too.. but I guess a SE would work for it as well

Yup, looks like it. I doubt it will have the sucess of those though, but it should do well.

Yeap, you are entirely correct , think Pokken sales will be similar to Mk8 / splatoon ?

Perhaps I should clarify; Pokken will sell nowhere near as much as MK8 or Splatoon.
I meant it merely in terms of its placement as an end-of-May game. It's listed as "Spring", so Nintendo being Nintendo will put it on pretty much the last day of Spring.

If it does release at the end of May, that's going to make for a pretty stacked set of months. March is Twilight Princess HD, April is Star Fox, and then May is Pokken. Now, we just need dates for Lost Reavers, Genei Ibun Roku #FE, and of course Zelda.
