This thread is kinda pointless.

The situation is very fluid -- with one score capable of dropping a game quite a bit since averages are computed to three decimal places.

That being said, it is not realistic to think that other games are being rated higher just to beat brawl, since most of the games in the top 30 are OLDER and no longer receiving reviews.

If you run a chart, SSBB comes out 23rd (not 27th as is indicated on the site). The only score less than 90 is the B+ from Game Revolution. It is translated as an 85 (2-3 points lower than what it should be counted as but still 2 points higher than what Metacritic says a B is (83)).

Good thing the 3-1/2 stars (out of 4) from CNN is not counted. (The review did not say the game lacked without anything or could be better -- but still failed to give it 4 stars. You can rate something however you like, but I challenge it when it is not backed up with comments. I did that in grad school (Good job! 85) and ended up getting my grade on the paper and in the class boosted).

Guys, stop bitchin. The point of this thread was to try and understand how a game could go down in rank but go up in percentage. Apparently, either they didn't rank Brawl right or they accidently must have counted in one of the reviews that shouldn't have been counted.

It makes plenty of sense. The average rating went up, but the ranking went down.
Why it happened or why it matters is what we're here to figure out.

What games moved ahead of it?

If old ones they probably removed some review site from Gamerankings that gave low scores.

If new ones... maybe they also just got better reviews?

If both... perhaps both?
