Forums - Nintendo - The 3DS is the ultimate Dragon Quest machine

Think about it, thanks to the backward compatibility, if you own a 3DS, you can play :

Dragon Quest IV : Chapters of the Chosen

Dragon Quest V : Hand of the Heavenly Bride

Dragon Quest VI : Realms of Revelations

Dragon Quest VII : Warriors of Eden

Dragon Quest VIII : Journey of the Cursed King

Dragon Quest IX : Sentinels of the Starry Skies

Dragon Quest XI : In Search of Departed Times

Bonus : Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 1 & 2 are both also available on retro DS.

Truly, the 3DS is a beast when it comes to JRPG.

You forgot this one. Rest sounds about right. Ultimate Dragon machine.

But the low screen resolution is a huge problem, for me it reduces the fun because these games just look ugly. Why can't Nintendo just have a system with grat controls AND great graphics.

Don't forget Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3! (Which hopefully gets localized)

I really want to get into this series, any ones you guys would suggest to start with? And which one for the 3ds should I get when it comes out?

The best game to start with is Dragon Quest 5, preferably on PS2 with English fan translation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1S0WhcpDA7I&list=PL114C3A8D42F3905F

Nintendo should also consider localising the two missing DQM games for 3DS, maybe combined into one game like the PS1 version.

On the 3DS more casual gamers should get 8 and more hardcore gamers 7.

My favourite one is the V, but I think the best to start would be VIII, since it's more casual friendly and less difficult.

I doubt we will get it this time :(

Incredible series that I wish was more appreciated. Besides SMT, it is the only old-school JRPG series that is still releasing high-quality games (IMO). I will always support these games

All of the games in the OP can or will be playable outside of Japan, bar DQXI which hasn't been confirmed yet.
