Forums - Gaming - That Nintendo Direct was all bad news to me

What worries me is the lack of new games for the WiiU.

Every game shown was already announced several months ago. There´s some good stuff coming, like Pokken, SMT x FE, Starfox....... but the lack of REAL new games for 2016 is something to be worried about.

Apart from Pikmin 4, Zelda WiiU, that Namco Game (Treasure Hunters?), and those two uncertain Miyamoto projects (Guard, Giant Robot) what else can we expect? Absolutely nothing. It seems they have stopped WiiU development definetely. We won´t see a real Animal Crossing, Metroid or Paper Mario game

3ds, on the other side, seems still promising, with so many new RPGs

TP HD is a new game. :)

It clear that NX will come out at end of next year.

Pokken tournament was officially revealed for the first time aswell. I'm sure there will be more, but its obvious that Nintendo is preparing other things. The NX wont release in 2016 though. Unless you want it to release with no games. 2017 earliest and most probable.

Did you see the fur in peppy?! That was very nice looking.

Anyways, you need to go watch footage of SF Assault to get a refresher. SFZ looks very good. That sweet FPS aswell allowing for sweet smooth gameplay. Don't rely so much on graphics. Graphics lose their appeal after 2 years. Its gameplay that makes you remember fondly and come back for more.

That fur was not actual game play. The whole trailer was not gameplay it even says on the bottom of the screen....

So you know the trailer wasn't in game graphics... then complain about in game graphics.

I thought it was a pretty good Direct. TP:HD is a remaster, not a remake, and the textures are obviously and noticeably improved. I imagine if it hadn't leaked several weeks ago (leading to plenty of speculation time) people would be far happier than they are. I also thought Star Fox: Zero looked noticeably better than the E3 build, and April is fine for me. Add to that a fantastic line-up of RPGs for 3DS, and nice surprises like Cloud in Smash and Generation 1 Pokemons coming to 3DS Virtual Console, and I thought it was good overall.

Sure, a handful of games I have no interest in, but Xenoblade, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, Final Fantasy: Explorers, Bravely Second, Star Fox: Zero, Twilight Princess HD and Fire Emblem: Fates in the next 5 months is great for me. Add to that Zelda U, Fire Emblem x SMT, Dragon Quest VII & VIII further out and things don't look bad for two systems that are on their way out, one of which is an enormous commercial failure. Plus, I think we'll see at least a couple more Wii U titles for 2016 and some more localisations for 3DS, too. And there's next month's Smash broadcast to look forward to.

TP doesn't look good? Damn, and i thought the Wii U was as powerful as a PS4.

Nintendo also forgot to mention Pikmin 4.

Can we talk about how great the Wii U lineup is looking next year? 2 Zeldas, 1 Pokemon, 1 Starfox, 1 Pikmin, and a crossover of 2 great JRPGs. Only 2 of those games coming for the second half of next year (Unless delays, and pikmin isnt official yet). Remember what Nintendo said at this years E3? They wanna announce games that release in less than a year. The bad thing about that is that it almost confirms the NX releasing between November 2016 - Q1 2017.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Nah Star Fox actually looks a lot better than the E3 reveal this year, I really don't get this whole thing of people acting like theirs no improvement, the textures are substantially better, there's actually AA and better AF in use, along with Screen Space Reflections that simply weren't there before, it's pretty evident in the water and shiny surfaces, which were just shiny before.

Twilight Princess looks nice and clean, while Gamecube games looked great in the 6th gen there was actually a lot of muddiness about the 6th gen visuals of consoles back then, Seeing it running on the direct I think it's pretty clear that there's been a lot of work done on that version of the game.
Not really seeing the Jaggies of old, just a nice and clear image.

As for Zelda, well who knows? Maybe it won't be too far long after Star Fox releases, like a summer release, especially if NX is coming in the Fall I doubt Nintendo would really need to push it that far back. The game's already been in development for ages, it's looking really nice in the short glimpse Nintendo showed, maybe they're going to have a direct dedicated too it pretty soon.

Hell it's possible that Star Fox could be April and Zelda could be May or June, to give both games room to breath, obviously Fall is definitely a possibility, we'll see what happens.

Despite not announcing anything major I actually thought this was a good direct and think the presenters did a good job. Nintendo may have seen this as more of a way to ease the community back into receiving Nintendo's news after Iwata's passing. I guess news of new things could be held back for NX, maybe Star Fox and Zelda will actually end up being the last major releases for Wii U, with everything else being dedicated to NX.

Why Nintendo needs to show all its games in this one direct!?
