Forums - Nintendo - another kart wii review

Computer and Videogames has a review up; http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=185351

Score: 8.8

Good review, and although I've been hesitant about this game, I might try it. No 4-player splitscreen though!?
MK on the DS was decent, but the original Super Mario Kart is still the best. Yes I know I'm old...

This must be the passage which confused you:

"No matter how rich the Wi-Fi mode is, to strengthen it at the cost of one of Nintendo gaming's most beloved pastimes - good ol' four-player Mario Kart - is downright wrong. "

They aren't saying that there's no 4-player splitscreen, they're just saying that the 4-player local game suffers to accomodate 12-player online game. They don't like the AI getting in the way of multiplayer matches, and they mention that you can turn off the AI players, but only 2-4 players on a course feels empty when the course is designed for 12.

So 4-player splitscreen is still there, it's just that the game isn't designed around it anymore.

so far the review seem very strong, I doupt it will finish above 90%, but for a MK game to be above 85% is very good.

All Mario Kart games are over 85%, or 85, except Mario Kart 64 in Metacritic, since it got a score of 83, but it got 86% on GameRankings.

90+ = Masterpiece.

This game better get 90+, or I'll be pissed.

I really don't want to see a "generally favorable reviews." I want to see a "universal acclaim." Then we will know that Mario Kart Wii is another Brawl, and Galaxy, and not an underpowered outsider! The score better have a "9" at the front. I don't want to see an "8." If I see anything less than "8," I will officially sell off my entire video game collection, except for the Mario Kart games, which I would burn in the fire. Come on Mario Kart Wii! Succeed!

What the list of best Mario Kart games should be:

  • 1. Mario Kart Wii
  • 2. Mario Kart DS
  • 3. Mario Kart 64
  • 4. Super Mario Kart
  • 5. Mario Kart Advance
  • 6. Mario Kart Cubed

Yea, I was thinking about DD in my mind the two review sites I read(GS and IGN) both gave it 79% so in my mind it was lower than it is.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Good scores, I'm glad it's not doing badly. IGNs previews seem overly negative, they've had me worried that it's going to be a bad installment to the series. Then again they didn't like Double Dash which I really enjoyed.
