Black Friday, and the week prior numbers finally added.

Across the 3 platforms the Holiday period is up 441K YoY

Per platform PS4 is Up Yoy by 472.8K, Xb one is down YoY by 77.5K, Wii U is up YoY by 45.5K.

So despite a missive YoY increase for Black friday week Xb one is still slightly down YoY because of the large deficits in the preceeding weeks that correspond to the ACU price cut for 2014. So what will be interesting is to see what happens in the next couple of week, whether Xb one goes back to negative YoY per week, or Black Friday has a helpful boosting effect to put December into positive YoY territory.

PS4 is substantially up, but with a $50 price cut since October AND a $100 price cut for BF being less than 500K up is also not that big. the two week $299 NDC and SWBF bundles should mean December is substantially up so PS4 is all but guaranteed to end the year decently up. The interesting question will be whether revenue is up and whether profits are up or flat. December financials will be interesting when they come out.

Wii U is up by a small amount in absolute terms, but percentage wise 6.6% up is not bad. A little under half of that YoY difference is Black friday.

PS4 maintaining >50% market share for the period. But nowhere near close to 2:1 over Xb one. So for the time being Xb one is keeping that wolf at bay, should be OK until next year. Who knows what next year will do.

I still think those latest numbers from vgc are wrong.
Eg. it being 30.3m (after black friday), when sony released numbers of 30.2 long before black friday.

PS4 is undertracked by a decent bit atm. Once they update charts to closer to realistic numbers you ll need to update the chart again.

Yes, I'm hoping there won't be too many adjustments between now and the end of the year. In theory VGC needs to adjust weeks prior to BF week. BF week could be pretty accurate.

for BF week I think that either the PS4 is undertracked in America (and maybe a touch in Europe), or the Xbox is overtracked in America (and deffinately Europe).

As mentioned before, BF week for Xb one is likely to be pretty accurate since MS said they got a 22% YoY lift from BF. However worldwide we don;t really know. So if there is adjusting for BF required it will be PS4 most likely. But mostly PS4 adjusting is needed for weeks prior to BF.

OP updated with new numbers for 5 Dec and some large adjustments to all previous weeks, and some not so large.

PS4 LTD is now reasonably on track with Sony's 22 Nov announcement. Some people might complain that it is still 314K undertracked, but that's just 1% under which is perfectly reasonable, and if VGC had originally only been 1% under people would have said "good job with tracking VGC."

Xb one was adjusted up and down over the previous weeks, Wii U was also adjusted up and down. PS4 was adjusted up for all weeks.

PS4 is now closer to its 2014 benchmark than Xb one. To date PS4 is up by 1.28M. Xb one is down by 53K and WiiU is up by 91K.

Xb one needs to sell on average 455K per week over the final 4 weeks of the holiday period. Last year over the corresponding weeks it sold an average of 442K. With the Gears special in the USA Xb one could get there to end the holidays fairly flat. I haven't worked out YTD numbers, so I'm not sure whether the next 4 weeks will determine whether Xb one finishes up or down for the year as a whole.

So, PS4 and Wii U up, and Xbox ONE down. While I was expecting something like this (Was expecting Xbone flat, the other 2 slightly up), I was really not expecting such a big difference, especially on the PS4

Updated for W/e 12 December. PS4 will be ahead YoY when w/e 19 Dec nubers drop. Xb one should end just ahead but it's got a wee bit to go yet. Wii U should also end the holidays slightly ahead.

Given Xb one was up YoY through most of the year being fairly flat for the holidays means it will be decently up YoY. PS4 will also be signifcantly up YoY as it is already up YoY with a few weeks to go.

Not sure where Wii U is for the whole year.

Ps4 sales are incredible but the amazing thing is it's likely undertracked by 1-2m!!!

Xbox sales are mediocre (note I didn't say bad)

Wii U sales are just bad but at least it's still going.
