N7 Day came and went, and we finally got a new trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda.

And it showed...not much.

It's been pegged as a kind of final send-off for Commander Shepard, who narrates the trailer. My read of it is such that sometime after the events of the original trilogy, Commander Shepard farewells a new mission to a distant galaxy - as part of a project to continue exploring.

Looks like the new main character might be called Ryder. And at the end we get a look at what is presumably our new (huge-looking) ship.

I remember that, it was great.

I think we'll likely see something around the Game Developers Conference in Feb/March next year, ahead of a blowout at E3.

And the award for most pointless trailer goes to...

I mean, they could have at least done CG that reflects the art direction.

I've seen it already. Honestly it does nothing for me. I need to see the actual game. Also I need to see if the game handles the protagonist. Mass Effect 1 started off really well in the aspect. Mass Effect 3 not so much.

I know a lot people will disagree with me on that. I played the original Mass Effect for years. I had several different Shepards. I tried to create multiple Shepards in ME3 it's not really possible. They really cut down the conversation options and options you did have cause Shepard to go on these long soliloquies. This made it harder, for players like me, who played the through the game different times to create unique Shepards.

Side note: Femshep players got hosed badly.

I enjoyed it.

I didn't see it as an Andromeda teaser as we've already had proper Andromeda trailers. This is a happy N7 day and a final farewell to our much beloved Commander Shepard. And damn am I glad we got FemShep as the narrator. She was always my default Shepard. Dude shep was always the alt that was played for completionist purposes.

Meh. It did little to hype me up for the game. I think it was silly to imply that the game was about exploring outer space when most likely No man's sky will beat it soundly in that area.

Well, at least a bit, pls? After Dragon Age: Cisquisition I have high hopes for Andromeda, even if ME3 wasn't any good.

I know they are both space games, but I view NMS and Mass Effect as being entirely distinct from each other.
