Forums - Gaming - Realistic or Cartoony?

HoloDust said"

And when you take characters out of a Tangled (actually, mostly you can just take out their heads), you get backgrounds that look fairly realisitic, yet stylized. Just one example:

Hence, 'stylized realism'.

By that definition, like 60%+ of cartoons are "stylized realism." All anime is "stylized realism."

It's not "stylized realism." It's just a cartoon.

Around the Network

Traditional animation>CGI any day of the week. Sadly, those days are almost over.

My problem with cartoony (which I prefer to realistic) is that characters in them are too Disneyish, Pixarish or Mangaey (or whatever is the word), they are often too swet (and sexy) while the ralistic and especially "ugly" part suffers, due to fear of market rejection or whatever.

That is, I feel that ugliness is waaay too underexplored in cartoonish games - being cartoony often means sweet or typical according to <insert style>, which is only a small part of possibilities.

Sorry, double post.

    CU......or CF ?

Both, but generally society views cartoonish as childish.Things left behind in childhood. Of course, not for me, because I grew up with it and actually draw so people never really bother me about it.
