Like Namiirei said, PSVita, got the quality, and quantity. It's for the "one percenters", the elites.

the reality is that most of the Vita games are shovelware though, not full releases. rereleases, small games, OR ports from Japan
there are a not a lot of great unique exclusives to the system that have emerged in the West

they're alllllll indie games
look up like top 10 best selling games (or 20 for that matter) on the Vita vs. 3DS. the difference is that the majority of the 3DS ones will be unique to that system or actually good. The Vita's best selling games are just hack half-ports of things from main consoles like Uncharted or GTA
And a lot of my favorite Vita-games are from Western developers:
So can we finally stop to reduce the Vita library to "Japanese niche games"? Thank you!
And feel free to list your favorite Western 3DS games.

Yeah, because the 3DS has soooo many Non-Japanese hits: |
Except most of those are games that are extremely popular in the West as well.

I could see how not everyone would be into indie games, though the Vita does have a fair share of good exclusive games on it. I guess not enough for the general audience to get into? It does look like a fair share number of Vita games have PS3/4 counterparts as well.

And Shenmue has aged badly, that is no opinion. Shenmue 3 is also the only kickstarter game that ever got announced at an E3 press conference of one of the big 3. And money Shenmue collected on kickstarter is peanuts for a budget a modern open world game needs. I really doubt this game will do well commercially and criticically. |
Yes it is. If you want to call it another word, I won't stop you but it doesn't change the fact that that's your opinion. The announcement at E3 was both a blessing and a curse. People assumed that Sony would pay the rest of the bill so they were disinclined to contribute to the kickstarter campaign which was handled horribly.
Also, you didn't intially say that it has "aged badly" but that "The game isn't even good, it's quite bad in fact". You can move the goalposts all you want, but don't expect not be called out when you do.

Don't forget that some of the ones that are not crossed are indies or inferior ports, so they magically don't count ;)

The SEGA 3D Classics haven't been crossed out, despite being both originally developed by SEGA and then ported to the 3DS by a Japanese dev.
Take out the indie/Vita games then, and you're left with barely anything on that list.

Plenty of games of that age have aged much better. Therefor Shenmue is a bad game. It was ambitious and a pioneer in the game industry, but that doesn't make it a good game. Open world games are the norm in the AAA industry nowadays, Shenmue is going to need something else to stand out now. With such a low budget I doubt much will come from it. When's the last time you have played Shenmue? Because there are far better open world games nowadays. GTA 3 is a lot better and only came out a year or so later.
