funny thread. yes, srsly, i am amused. it symbolizes how everything in the xbox universe is revolving around this one franchise.

Not so long ago people were predicting Uncharted 4 would outsell Halo 5. I guess everything revolves even more about Uncharted then in the Sony universe? Just because the other two companies failed to release big games this holiday doesn't mean you have to make petty remarks about Halo and the xbox. Next year MS has Gears of War, Recore, Quantum Break, Crackdown 3, Halo Wars 2, Sea of Thieves and Scalebound. I wouldn't worry about Halo being the only thing xbox has.

Repost from other thread for exposure.

I think it sold around 3.8m.
~350m= 5.2m Halo 3 for just software.
~400m has some subtractions from hardware and microtransactions.

A year ago Halo sold 60m. The franchise got 5bn with Halo 5. Without Halo 5 it is 4.6bn.
Using proportions we get 5bn x 60m / 4.6bn = 65m
That suggests 5m but it is obviously less due to Halo sales within a year and the PR suggesting it is both hardware and software this time.

So my rough guess is 3.8m-4m

Based on the hours played data below I estimate its lifetime sales will be at roughly 1/2 the lifetime sales of Halo 3, which this site has at 12 million, and 2/3 the sales of Halo 4, which this sate has at +/-9.5 million; so +/- 6-6.5 million lifetime. The maths support this.

Well, interesting data :

Halo 3 "Within the first day of its launch, “Halo 3” players worldwide racked up more than 3.6 million hours of online gameplay, which increased more than elevenfold to 40 million hours by the end of the first week,"

40 million hours in first week for Halo 3

Halo 4 "with over 4 million players in the first five days. Users spent a total of 31.4 million hours playing “Halo 4,”

31.4 million hours in first week for Halo 4

Halo 5 "Fans have logged more than 21 million hours of total gameplay, including 12 million hours in campaign mode alone."

21 million hours in the first week for Halo 5

..

When Halo 3 launched, install base was 7 mil. X360 consoles.

When Halo 4 launched, install base was 77 mil. X360 consoles.

For Halo 5, Xbone user base is around 14 mil.

Full Halo 3 PR :

More than 2.7 million gamers have played “Halo 3” on Xbox LIVE in the first week, representing nearly one-third of the 7 million Xbox LIVE members worldwide. Within the first day of its launch, “Halo 3” players worldwide racked up more than 3.6 million hours of online gameplay, which increased more than elevenfold to 40 million hours by the end of the first week,

So if a game is sold for $80 on average, which is pretty high, because there are not many people aiming for a $250 statue and it "only" sold like 2 or 2.5 million it would look like this.

2 million copies of Halo 5 / 600,000 Halo consoles / 10,000,000 Req packs for $4 a piece --> every Halo player payed $80 for the game and paid an additional $15.3 for cosmetical skins (on average).

Does this look like a reasonable scenario for you?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Halo 5 is sure controversial, the games has positive pr and a positive praise from a mainstream media but at the same time has a negative review from blogger and small site, and also negative news from sales data, so Positive + negative equal = Zero. SO the logic is Halo 5 is a decent games ( not fail, but also not a success games ).
But It failed on helping Xbox one sales closing the gap. And also it's a fatal mistake, because it need to have at least minimum 95 review score, because it's the only reason "most "of Xbox fans buy Xbox one.

This is the Chief we are talking about. This should not surprise anyone.

All hail the Chief, time to win that NPD!

This is why they say its the Star Wars of video games.

Just wait for NPD. We already have UK sales, we'll then be able to extrapolate roughly WW sales.

The 45 million req packs are used req packs not purchased ones. At least 90% where earned for free.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.
