So, is there an actual tutorial and instruction manual on how to make a game type?

Since when is Uncharted anything like Heavy Rain? Uncharted is a completely different genre and he sounds like someone I would punch in the face especially since he isn't making anything different.

You get this is about storytelling in games, right? And even then he categorises them differently.

I get where he's coming from, very few games really experiment with the interactive nature of video games to help tell stories. I love all the games he mentions for different reasons, but the most immersive stories in games are the ones that really allow players to interact and give them the ability to influence characters and plot points.

Who does he think he is? Jack Packard?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

It's not your fucking medium. You don't own it and, thankfully, you have no control over where it goes.

I despise that mentality. Absolutely and completely despise it. Trying to define a medium to tight restrictions is beyond stupid. It should be anything people want it to be, as long as there is an audience that enjoys it. People like him try to kill new experiences simply because they don't conform with what he likes.

I'll take any of those games over Epic Mickey any day of the week.

Completely agree on all fronts. Gaming's ultimate goal is simply to entertain its audience. As long as you accomplish that, your game has justified its existence. It baffles me that anyone would want to restrict the medium past that point.

While I would take original Deus Ex over any game he mentioned (except for Fallout, if he meant FO 1/2) and I do understand what he was trying to say, some really strong words from him right there.

"get out of my medium"... seriously? Seriously?!!

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

"Games shouldn't aspire to be movies, Spector said. "If all you want to do is show off how clever you are, get out of my medium!" he said. "Go make a movie or something, because that's what you should be doing.""

F you, different people want different things, and if they sell, we want them. Don't discourage anyone from creating what THEY want

I see his point, but obviously we have different genres for a reason.

It's interesting how he failed to mention how fun the uncharted games are. Which isn't what gaming is usually about?

I'm sure this guy loves 'Dreams'.

Exactly thank god we don't live in a world with one person dictating how games should be made. We get a bunch of different varities and people can go out and choose what they like. I don't like those walking dead games but if someone else does awesome good for them. From what I can tell no one really liked the reboot of the Thief series. I personally loved it and thought it was one of the best stealth games we've had in a long time.
