How much time does the 3DS have left?

Beginning of next year 7 4.35%

The end of next year 70 43.48%

2 more years 53 32.92%

3 more years 7 4.35%

When the NX comes out 15 9.32%

Way too soon, The 3DS has lots of time left! 3 1.86%

I don't know 6 3.73%

When Nintendo releases Mobile gaming apps 0 0%

Total:161

Its still selling pretty well in all regions. With staying above 20k+ in Japan every week.
I would actually dont mind if they stop supporting it by the end of 2016. Because FE: Fates and Hyrule legends will last me pretty looooooooong in 2016 (Especially the amount of content in FE:Fates). And how Xenoblade being exclusive on the New 3DS didn't work out well (I think it was either put it only for the new 3DS or not develop it at all). But at the end of 2017 should be the end. Because who knows how technology would advance by then.

I don't really think Nintendo would just abandon their most succesful market, specially when it's still profitable (not Wii-DS profitable, but just regular profitable). Even if mobile games are dominating, Nintendo is mostly popular with handhelds. Even the Wii couldn't outsell the DS or the GameBoy. Unless they are not worht it anymore, Nintendo will keep handhelds going, even if they have to combine it with mobile strategies and hybrid hardware.

Fair enough, we'll see how it all turns out soon enough.

Lol.Nintendo has said time and time again that theu wont put "AAA" games on smartphones. So if they dont bring the handhels to the west, the audience that once played on the handhels wont move ober to mobile, they will simply fade. And handheld does very well on the west.So no, if they make another handheld, which they most likely will, they will bring it to the west.

Nintendo also said time and time again that they wouldn't bring anything to any smartphone at all. They also said they won't bury the Gameboy because of the DS, the DS is just kind of a third pillar. They also said they won't ever do DLC. Guess how all of that turned out? I'm not relying on the marketing jibberish of any company. I mean, it's not like I'm mad for them for lying. Of course they can't go out and say "lulz, we won't be supporting systems x and y from this and that date on!" - no one would buy their systems anymore and just wait for the future. So lying is really the only thing they can do. So I'm not mad, but I also don't trust them one bit.

Why bring out the new 3DS though if there just going to replace it that quickly!!!

The Game Boy Color released about 2 years before the Game Boy Advance. So a new handheld at the end of 2016 wouldn't be that surprising in that regard.

I'd give it at least 2 more years just because of the "New" 3DS model.

02 years, I´d say

End of next year.

2 years is my bet. Just makes sense.

I fully expect another "DS" or Handheld, the 3DS did stumble after release and sold well. (50+ million is nothing to sneeze at, seriously.)

1 1/2 years is definitely possible. Though once the NX is out, I'm sure Nintendo will stop supporting the 3DS almost instantly.

Send a Friend Request On PSN :P

Probably 1 year or 2 max after NX is released.

Most likely some games made for it, then it'll finally be thrown into the grave.

At least the 3DS was great though. made gaming fun, even with underwhelming graphics.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.
