Forums - Gaming - How has Gen 8 been for you so far?

It's being... decent. Nothing great, but nothing horrible either. I think 2016 will be the start of the "greatness" for me, since so many good games will be releasing across all 3 consoles.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

There have been better gens to be sure, but this gen has been fun. And everyone's saying next gen is right around the corner... For all systems which is kind of surprising....

I keep hearing NX will release next year, followed by the PS and XBox brands in 2018.

Nah not really disappointed by my Wii U and PS4. They're all given me what I wanted out of them and what I expected. Though I'm slightly disappointed in PS4 because I stupidly thought they could make the potato work in games.

I learned that I should never trust a console only gamer with the words "the game looks great and runs perfectly smooth".

Nearly three months into 8th gen, I'm really enjoying it so far, with a couple of slowdowns because I'm sometimes sitting in front of the PS4, trying to figure out what to play. It has to do with the fact that I'm playing like 2-3 games daily and I have like 7 of them still, not counting the digital FTP's.

Even if it's not a graphical leap like PS1 to PS2 or PS2 to PS3, graphics are still solid and at a level we can expect from it. My only major complaints is the PS4's controller battery duration. Sony really needs to release an improved controller without the light bar and better build quality, since the left stick is already veering a bit to the left. There's also the occasional lag here and there, and an occasional feeling of games not being entertaining after completing them, but that might be just me. That might be it... for now.

There are some already released games I really want to get, like inFamous Second Son, Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag (I doubt I'll get Unity and Syndicate), and double-dip for Sleeping Dogs. I can't wait for Fallout 4, Ratchet & Clank, Horizon, Uncharted 4, No Man's Sky, the next Mass Effect, Hitman, among others. I believe there's still a lot more fun to be had with the PS4.

Pretty much what you said.

8th Gen's been disappointing. WiiU doesn't really have any game that has 'it' for me, everything seems to be 'small' and lacking ambition. PS4 still doesn't have anything that makes me want it, which will remain until Uncharted releases at least.

This time last gen, I was back into console gaming full swing and their had been many new and innovative game released all around.

Now, only the 3DS has done things right, but it's last two years have also been slow. 3DS did do it so right however, that it's become one of my favorite handhelds of all time.

I'd say that this gen is very average, though it can only get better from here on out.

Well I came back to Nintendo since Gen 5, buying first a wii u and then a 3DS. And I've had fantastic fun on Wii u with my wife n kids. PS4 is ok, The last of us Remaster was good, gta5 is ok, most of my games are cross gen though. Fallout 4 should be good, overall PS4 a bit dissapointing, Wii u great fun, but there current games seem a little like fillers, and Xbox One will be the first xbox console I will skip.

I have enjoyed my 3DS, and FE Awakening was a blast, but ultimately this gen feels very small compared to the vast variety the original DS offered. So many games it's ridiculous.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I gotta admit though, one reason I did enjoy 7th generation more was because of this bad boy: http://www.buy-acekard.com/

I recall when I used to spend a solid hour or two looking for any DS game that's fun, and it made me find some new cool games such as Rhythm Heaven.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Only one must have title so far; The Witcher 3. So in other words, not amazing the three first years. Things are looking up though and there have been quite a few good Indie games in the meantime.
