But you're forgetting one big fact. MS helped fund the development of the game, they are publishing it, not Square Enix. This deal is similar to Sony's deal with Street Fighter 5, except Sony is keeping it console exclusive. I'm sure sony didnt help fund this game because it is a direct competitor to their Uncharted franchise.

MS saw an oppourtunity, and took it. regardless if it fails, MS helped make the game possible.

The game was going to happen regardless of the deal and this is nothing like Street Fighter V. SFV was going to happen, but allegedly not for a long while according to Ono. In addition, MS is very opposed to cross-platform play between the XBO and PC, something SFV will have.

MS are not opposed to cross platform at all, there are 3 games (Fable Legends, Sea of Thieves and Killer Instinct) I can think of that will have cross platform play when they are released.

From neogaf:

"I've got more than a few Black Fridays under my belt. But they don't usually stack the releases quite like this.

Halo - CoD - Fallout 4 - Battlefront - Black Friday - Star Wars Movie 2 weeks later?

This is just like. Stupid. There's Holiday season, and then there's compression of franchise pressure. People swarm for the major games. But still. CoD came out, and Halo sales effectively stopped (Major, major hit). Fallout and CoD aren't really going to cannibalize each other in the same way, though to some degree I guess, while Battlefront will be interesting to see - Though Battlefront has a HUGE upswell of just major starwars geekdom behind it, not just big shooter fans. Tons of preorders for that.

But. yeah. This year in general is stacked in a way that feels kind of stupid. Tomb Raider has the worst fucking placement I've ever seen. Uncharted being delayed feels like a blessing. I don't know where it would fall that it would really nestle and niche without feeling impacted during this season."

Call of Duty basically killed/canablized Halo sales (might effect the "legs" halo has).
Tomb Raider isnt doing well.
Uncharted might be "lucky" it got delayed.

Insane levels of preorders for SW BF.

Sw bf is going to be massive. This game + fallout 4 will tide me over till uncharted 4 comes out.

It might be the reason for delay. I know that's not the official reason but I've known games to alter their release date for 1 big game like GTA or COD nevermind several. Sony could of looked at the line up and thought "fuck that!"

Missed a couple of pages in the thread, why Gears bundle is so high?

Yeah I mean I am still shocked that TR didnt get delayed, going day and day against FO4 is the stupidest thing I've ever seen, it would be like releasing the same day as GTA or something. They would have been better off releasing december... but what do we know eh.

SW BF is going to be a monster, and though some of the charts are jumping around a bit this month with the deals, you can imagine the pre-orders for the SW bundle are going to be gigantic.

What was the bundle numbers for Destiny and Watch Dogs? I think it could easily beat that.
