Forums - Nintendo - how does super smash bros select online opponent?

So i am a newble in ssb series and i m enjoying despite the fact that i am still suck at it. Anyway, as i have been playing for glory recently, i realised that most of the time i will battle with japanese player and sometimes the connection is extremely laggy. sometimes it will even stuck in the middle of a match for more than 10 seconds.

Does anyone knows how they choose our opponent? are they completely random, based on win rate or something else? do i have a way to choose a region of players that i would like to battle?

Around the Network

well you would think a popular game liek smash it be based on some sort of skill level, if not many player then random.

If this was COD Wii U it doesn't find any online players lol

That's weird, I play for glory a lot and it's very rare I get matched with a Japanese player. I'm not sure how the matchmaking works, but I believe it does try to take the win rate % in consideration.

i dont know if this is related to location as i m staying at Australia.. Compare to US we are nearer to japan . Most japanese players are really damn good.
