I didn't have anything to do, the charts had recently been updated to August 29th. And everytime the charts are updated, I take the opportunity to see how some of my favorite and not favorite games are doing sales wise.
And I occasionally dip into the whole entire list for all games that sold. And one thing I always found glaring was how the multiplatform titles are counted seperately as individual games.
And there's nothing wrong with that. Don't get me wrong, but I can't help but wonder, "How is this game REALLY doing, across ALL platforms." Because looks can be deceiving.
So I took a lot of time, did a lot of searching through the Database, and a lot of mathematics. And all of that led to the creation of this: Note Figures are, of course, in millions.

The 200 Best Selling Games Ever, combining all platforms together of one game. As well as remakes of some games.

Some things to look out for when viewing this are some thigns I added or adapted such as:

a) I have added games that serve as prologues or expansion packs of some sorts into sales of the main games themselves. Examples include: GTA Vice Cities & Vice City Stories, the Monster Hunter Games (Freedom 2/Unite. 4/4 Ultimate). So on and so forth.

 b) I have added sales for remakes of games to the sales of the original games since they're both the same games at their core. Exampes include: Pokemon Gen 1 (Red/Green/Blue & FireRed/LeafGreen), Pokemon Gen 2, (Gold/Silver & HeartGold/SoulSilver), Super Mario 64 (Both the DS and N64 versions), The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64 and 3DS versions), and so on.

& c) And yes, bundle sales are included. So yes, Wii Sports, Kinect Adventures, etc. all have their accumalated sales.


And that just about covers the bases.

Hold on, give me a sec. Trying to fix it...

If that's your reasoning for the expansion packs, then Pokémon Crystal should be piled with with Gold and Silver. The same should be the case for Emerald and Ruby/Sapphire, and Platinum and Diamond/Pearl, and so on and so forth.

I guess I'll make my own list :P

Also, you should try removing the bundled software. I'm saying it in case someone else tries to say that it the thread.

I thought about doing that with the Pokemon games. And to just call them Pokemon Generation 1, Generation 2, and so on. But decided, nah.
Guess I've got even more work to do.
And some new games will appear on the list as a result.

However, Black/White and Black/White 2 will still be treated as seperate games, since B/W 2 isn't an expansion pack, rather a direct sequel.

I think it's pretty cheap to include the Pokeremakes in the same crowd as their originals, since those tend to add a lot more than most other remakes on the list. Same goes for the Stories games in the GTA series, since those are literally completely different games. Being somewhat plot related doesn't mean they're the same game. Otherwise we might as well consider the entire Halo series one big game.

That said, not too much surprising on this list. I'm surprised that by August GTA V wasn't 2nd, but then you've gotta think that the game is at 58m when we account for digital by this point so it doesn't really matter. That game is just selling like nothing else.
