More like Ultra Crash, Burn and Smash the game into orbit.

"I love the Mario sports games. They have flair, a wide variety of modes and tons of fan service that makes them really stand out. Vivid memories of Mario Golf: World Tour are still burned into my memory as it is one of my favorite Nintendo 3DS games to date."

"After booting up the game from the Wii U Menu, the splash screen is just a wall of white with the game's logo. After listening to some tennis court noises, the game appears to me in all of its glory. Well, it doesn't have an intro video and you will be just looking at a simple title screen. The immediate loss of charm was an unexpected one, but it hurts nonetheless."

"The main menu are six panels with options and they aren't split in some clever menus or anything like it."

"Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash is absolutely playable and can be decent in passing, but the whole system feels like a game that doesn’t even match Mario Tennis Open’s features."

"What isn't exactly forward thinking is the roster of characters, as it feels uninspired and it doesn't really feature any major newcomers."

"There are always the online options that Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash offers. The moment I opened up that online tab, my jaw dropped to the floor. The game has no support for lobbies or communities, which pretty much means that you can't play with friends."

"You are free to choose any of the standard modes, but unlike local multiplayer, you don't have any control about the length of the match."

"Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash feels like a disappointment in every given way. With one stadium and limited online options, you already see how this game is shaping up"

"The game feels like a gap filler and not a great one. It fills the niche for a Mario sports title on Wii U, but it also feels like a fall from grace at the same time. Even when compared to Mario Tennis Open, Camelot wasn't inventive or creative with this one. That makes the situation so darn depressing."

So,I was expecting a filler, but not something like this one. I remember playing one on the N64 or the NGC and it was good.

No way I'm getting this game, such a disappointment

Wait, you can't play with friends? How is that even possible?

I never played Mario Tennis and this certainly won't be the first one.
It would have been nice to have a decent tennis game because everyone else stopped making them.

It would have been nice to have a decent tennis game because there haven't any other good tennis games for years.

I recommend you to play the N64 game.

Wow

What a dissaster.

If only they would have made different and beautiful stadiums (instead of just changing the courts) and allow support for lobbies it would probably be a decent filler. But as is stands, it is kind of embarrasing to be honest.

No, I´m not buying this one.

Edit: Btw, does this really means you cannot play with friends online at all or it will have a similar system as Splatoon has where, outside the lobbies options you can find a friend thats playing and join him without the need of making lobbies?

I recommend you to play the N64 game.

Since you prefer MK64 over DD, I'd rather try Mario Power Tennis (GC version)

Very dissapointing.By the things we had already seen, I was already expecting to be dissapointed with the game, but i didnt think it would be at this level.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I'm not suprised. For a Nintendo game, it look charmless and unispiring. It's a shame, because Mario Tenis 64 is actually a great sports game...

You forgot to put "Shocking News" in your title.

It's been clear that the main Nintendo studios have moved on to NX development, and while we're waiting we're getting the shoot offs from smaller development teams (Triforce Heroes, Animal Crossing Amiibo Party, Mario Tennis, etc.)

Not to say that they're inherently bad games because of this, but the writing is on the wall.
