It sounds like this app and the Nintendo account is really important, so they have to make sure it's ready and takes off. Sounds like a start to a new foundation they want to get rolling, and if it fails, well, it may not be good for Ninten at all. That may be why they delayed it, at least to me.

Yeah.A lot may be riding on this.Plus i think My Nintendo and Nintendo Account is not quite finished yet, and since the program is vital to the game, they delayed it, to perfect the new membership program. And also about the no marketing reason.Thats also important

Yeah, that could be it too, and it's important that everything is working properly when it starts. Seems like it's going to be really important for Nintendo when it starts and there after.

It seems they're going through hell ever since the 3DS/Wii U era began.

I love their games, and I admire how they would rather delay their projects to make sure they're of the highest quality... But they keep announcing things months ahead, just to announce a delay a couple of months afterwards. They know what they're working on, so they clearly know when a project is near completion or not. The fact that they've done this MANY times by now, its just unprofessional.

They keep their mouths closed for almost anything, might as well not promise release dates when they know damn well they won't keep their word.

Yes, there's something very very wrong with Nintendo happening right now, they keep delaying too much. At least investors can be happy that the briefing was not delayed.

Anyway, Kimi-san can't turn this ship in a few months, it needs some times, but yeah, hype for NX deflated after this new incompetence show, again.

But, on the other hand, maybe Nintendo is delaying for marketing and bussiness purposes. Imagine for a moment:

In 2016 will:
Release their new mobile social app and during the year new investements in the mobile market (wheter those are games or not, it is still an investement)
Zelebrate Zelda 30th anniversary (Orchestra $$$ revenue included)
New hardware NX released
New MyNintendo reward program
New Nintendo Account (Network)

Nintendo is coming this 2016 in a beast mode, and they are saving everything to do a big splash. That's why they are focusing this holiday season on more Wii U and 3DS games. That way, the say good bye to those consoles and move to the future in 2016.

2016 feels like the new 2006 with the Wii.

People here are moaning about a mobile app that they all worried was going to take focus away from dedicated gaming platforms being delayed?

This is getting pathetic. Seriously what is going on in that company?..delaying Zelda and then delaying Starfox the only holiday title they have in some regions and now delaying this mobile game... Really shows some serious incompetence.

Really? Because I think sending out unfinished games full of bugs and glitches like many other companies are fine with doing is what really shows some serious incompetence. Even though I am really looking foreword to those two games, I actually respect Nintendo more for holding off on Zelda and Starfox to make sure it is the best it can be instead of just looking at dollar signs, pushing it out the door before Christmas of this year.

Systems I own: Switch, Wii U, Wii, N64, Retron 5 for my Ness, SNES, Genesis, Gameboy line games, Dreamcast, PS2, New 3DS.

Delays are a way to show incompetence. Real efficient process are in time. They are not rushing it. Or, are you telling me that a game that takes 4 years in development is rushed? No. Not in this life, not in this universe.

This mobile game is intertwined with My Nintendo, which they can't release at the moment, so once they iron out all that stuff, then it should be able to release along side with that program.

If they release it now, you may have to delete everything you worked for when you link it to your NNID which I'm sure nobody wants to do

So you want them to release a broken game then?

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

OP has every right to be sick of delays. Just because the pattern has lasted for so long that you are desensitized by Nintendo's incompetence, it doesn't mean you should defend them.

It's fine if you are only defending and coming up with excuses to soften the criticism, but brushing off OP's points completely and filing them under "non-issues" is ridiculous.

This

Why on earth announce games that you can't even finish on time? Please, stop with the excuses

The point is: don't make promises that you can't keep

And they seem to keep doing it over and over again
