Just found out that Sony's biggest game Uncharted 4's multiplayer will not be using dedicated servers. Now its ok since UC4 is mainly played for its campaign and its MP is more of a side dish however this isnt last generation. We are in 2015 and UC4 comes out in 2016. They are making us pay for there online, we as gamers should be expecting the best possible service and they should be providing us with the standards. If they cant keep up with there competitors then they shouldnt be charging us plain and simple. Sony knows UC4 will sell well, they need to be investing more in there 1st party games.

Its the princable, notr having dedicated servers is last generation, this generation you would expect there biggest game and greatest franchise to supply there fan base with the best they possibly can. If there going to half "$$ it then just dont have a multiplayer anymore.

Hopefully ND hear this and listen to the community, there will be those who want to defend this, however defending doesnt give us anything, they will  keep taking your money until they get hit with petitions to atleast allow there 1st party games to offer what there competitors offer.

I was really looking forward to UC4 multiplayer since i was a fan of UC2's MP but now i am not interested in going though the same old problems i had last gen with the P2P system. Ill buy UC4 but the MP wont be touched.

Dedicated servers are becoming redundant these days, they were important back when peoples inter et sucked, now? Not so much.

U3 MP was always very reliable for me and U4 is guaranteed to run better than MCC.

so meh, i don't see the problem. i play games not technical network architectures.

The only problem with P2P is if the netcode requires a "host". Then you encounter issues with the host having upload speed issues, host migrations, and firewall issues.

If the P2P is not "host" based -- there are other issues such as lag hacks and desyncs -- but I'd prefer this to host based.

Xbox One was supposed to have dedicated servers and I don't think the matchmaking is any better than on the PS4, or even the Wii U.

MS doesn't use enough dedicated servers, either.

lol @ anyone who voted no to this. "Nah, I don't need better MP connections, thanks".

I'd have to see how much of a difference dedicated servers would make, because honestly, i don't know, but if there is a noticeable and worthwhile difference and it would improve the overall enjoyment of the MP, then dedicated servers really should be used, especially as Uncharted 4 is one of the bigger games coming to PS4 and online requires to be paid for.

Well, DriveClub has dedicated servers and look how that turned out :p

There are advantages and disadvantages.
One important advantage of p2p imo is: Cheaper to maintain matchmaking servers so the game can live longer before getting shut off. Although GT5 still got shut off despite being p2p (and quite bad when playing with people from different continents)

My upload speed is much better this gen, probably also for others, so maybe it's not that big of a deal anymore.
