It was widly accepted that GT6 was a relative flop. But it's approaching 5 millions now, an impressive feat it managed to pull despite the messy start.

Messy start?

There was nothing messy about it. There was a lot of attention turned towards the PS4 and GT6 got ignored by early adopters, that's all there was to it.
It's still the #1 racer across Europe with driving stands inside shops only for GT6, top seller placements on last gen and strongest tournament presence.

Yeah, the PS1 was the first system to have demo discs.  Not sure how it was in the rest of the world but in the US pretty much every PS1 console included a demo the only ones that didn't where probably only the very early models.  Also it looks like GT is at it again since GT Sport is another expanded demo well at least they are saying it will have more content then GT 5 Prologue.

It is funny how a year before this "supost real numbers" be out over 2.5m users downloaded the free car from PSN.

GT6 sales is over 5m dude.

Great sales for a game released after the PS4 metagon... it is sad for me to say that when I was playing it in December I really missed to use my PS4... a lot of times I left it to play anything on PS4.
I know a lot of gamers that didn't bought it because they already had the PS4 too.

Far from the flop people thought it was and inline with my estimates of sales posted early this year... GT6 was a success.

It will end selling over 6 million.

And even GT biggest flops outsells by leaps it's main competitor biggest success for simulation on consoles.

Mario Kart is the best simulation racer! I loved GT when I was a kid, but I no longer like realistic racers. Great sales nonetheless. But if we're taking jabs against MS, at least Forza is already on the XBONE! :p
