Forums - Gaming - SEGA: 'Future Sonic games to be inspired by classic Sonic'

- SEGA Europe Marketing Director Jon Rooke said the following about Sonic games in a Marketing Week article:

“Sega has publically apologised to the fans as the quality of console games in the Sonic franchise hasn’t been acceptable over recent years. It’s been tough translating that iconic side scrolling 2D experience from the 90s into 3D but Sonic is still huge for us so the new games will be more inspired by how it played in its heyday.”

So, do you still have faith in Sega releasing a proper Sonic game?

Were the post-Sega Genesis Sonic games that bad for you when compared to classic Sonic?

Were there any exceptions to the popular notion that latest Sonic games were lacking? What game Sonic game did you like?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

All that means is that they're skipping Nintendo consoles. :p

Easier said than done I'm afraid, but it is reassuring to know they're at least trying to improve.

The last game Team Sonic made came out in 2013, so it will have had a 3-year development cycle if it comes out in the holiday season next year. So at least it isn't rushed like some other Sonic games. I actually have moderate hopes for the next Sonic game. I just wonder if it will skip the Wii U.

They could always try something similar to what they did with Classic Sonic in Generations.

I dunno, I stopped caring for Sonic a long time ago.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Sonic Colors was ok, Generations was good, and I even liked SOnic and the Secret Rings. I think the teams have had good ideas, but the time and budget just weren't there.

They also said that they will try to win back trust and fans...

will just need towait and see the games first

I frankly don't buy anything they say until I see results. They haven't made a single quality 3D Sonic. Not one.

This isn't the first time they've said this.

I'd love them to take a crack at a new Sonic in the vein of Generations or possible like the daytime levels from Unleashed.

Anything than trying to copy Boom or Knight.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Another Generations-like Sonic, please.
