Forums - Gaming - Have publishers gone too far with Pre-order bonuses, day one DLCs and season passes?

Of course they have. They are nickle and diming gamers. And the sad part is, younger gamers especially are being conditioned to just eat it up. They are growing up in an environment where they find this to be totally normal and okay business practice. And that, to me, is very sad.

I miss the days when you could fully expect ALL content in a game, to be IN the game, and secret or extra stuff was unlockable, on disc, on cart, whatever. Yes, some DLC IS fully extra, but the fact is, most of it is not. Charging people $60 for a game, and then charging them to play it online (even with PS4's PSN crap or Xbox Live), and THEN charging them to unlock content that is literally already on the disc they bought or file they downloaded............is absolutely fucking bullshit. Dirty business at it's worst.

Yet people pay for it all. People vote with their dollar, and so the companies will continue to do it.
