A desk in Deus Ex original:

A desk in Human Revolution:

There is nothing redundant in PS2 graphics, the games look good enough and you can concentrate on the most important - the gameplay.

That doesn't really explain anything. PS2 graphics are better because devs can focus on gameplay more? Well what if they focus a lot on gameplay but also have really good graphics? That's possible too

Devs focused way more on gameplay back then, now they dont. thats why like half of the PS2 games are so outdated they are literally unplayable anymore. because devs stopped focusing on gameplay.

Hell yeah. Battlefield 3 Xbox version is the best because of it:

Forget the desk.. That UNATCO theme.
Anyway Deus Ex is just a special example, it still has better gameplay than pretty much every game coming out today, because the concept of gameplay has been warped over time.

This is one of reasons I could never get in to Human Revolution, I don't want to be exploring a plastic world of desks and boxes:

Weird.. Somehow the graphics and the look of the modern Deus Ex put me off, too. I just couldn't get into the feel of it, immersion didn't take over like usual. Can't really say why, it's not that I don't like gorgeous graphics. Just something about Deus Ex. 'Plastic' sounds pretty fitting, yeah.

Was excited for this thread then I saw the only picture was a desk.

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

2D sprite based graphics between 1994-2001 are my favorite

I liked the simple anime style graphics in some games like The Bouncer but I appreciate the strides made since then.

This is actually a good point! I recall always getting excited whenever ever I saw something in N64 games because 99% chance that if it isn't a 2D texture, you can interact with it.
