In my opinion, yes. I can't see them releasing another console in the future. Everything points to them transitioning the Xbox division over to the PC. Once it's almost complete, they'll rebrand and drop console manufacturing.

And compete with GOG and Steam? Thats a battle they wont ever win.  Heck, i doubt they would be able to make a dent in their dales. Even origin wouldnt be effected by them.

 

If they ditch hardware, they go third party, thats how i see it. But then xbox live is dead. I really wonder what they are going to do.

They're hoping to use LIVE as the catalyst. What's the one thing XB1 users constantly go on about? If MS can successfully ambutate LIVE from the console and move it over to the PC then lots of XB1 owners will follow -- or that's the theory in my opinion.

They are a company, companies exist solely to make money. Results of individual hardware items is very much a phenomenon of the gaming indutsry. Few other do it, few others care. Its ALL about revenue and profits. Surely you are sensible enough to understand that by now?

Anyhow, off on my holidays now. Cheer up, no need to be downbeat about it.


In all fairness accounting is done to promote transparency to both stakeholders and shareholders. In companies that actually make consumer products, it is important to have a management accountant documenting shipped units, W.I.P and components in storage as well as ordered. 

 

Trick is that MS don't actually make the console, Foxcon do. So that is the loophole but I also think they are doing a disservice to their shareholders.... how are they supposed to know what is going on with this whole division? 

Not that it was much better before, with promotions and marketing covering the discounts last year. MS are making good money for their shareholders so for now it's unlikely they will hear many complaints worth listening to (for them).

So they can use live Numbers from x360 and pc to pump the Numbers. Once those Numbers get lower or ps4 hw get over it will they change metrics? Like access for 12 months not only one? Can we start accepting Xbox will be discontinued? Is this the way phil spencer was ready for ps4 pricecut? Hide the Numbers and let the rumors spread.

Don't forget they are adding Silver memberships to the numbers (free version) for the first time.

They seriously went out of their way to mask the numbers.

Interesting way to twist numbers
Definatly cause Windows 10 has xbox live includered.
And if They count logins. Numbers should explode with the free upgrade to Windows 10.

Personally i rather saw real numbers instead of this way of counting

Honestly I don't care, for me it's good that they truly accepted defeat and hopefully don't keep spouting nonsense the way they did for some time. If so, that's for the better. If some people like crapgamer and his ilk want to take advantage of it for dumb reasons, that's their problem.
