Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Q1FY2016. Revenue $20.4bn, Op Inc $5.8bn, Net Income $4.6bn. Expectations beaten, stock up over 7% in after hours. (15 year high likely tomorrow)

The decrease in Xbox One price is 12.5% (from $400 last year to $350 this year). I don't know how much exactly was Microsoft affected by that. Example to explain, they were getting $350 per console and now they are getting $300. The actual decrease percentage in this case would be 14.3%.

Good to see Kowen back. MS profit threads done with style.

Xbox 360 and Xbox One

Sounds like Xb one shipments must be relatively flat, with YoY hardware revenue down partly due to price drop and partly due to 360 die off. It doesn't look like shipments would be down as you'd expect a higher revenue drop if that was the case. But on the other hand if Xb one shipments were significantly up you'd think that would be in the highlights list.

Curious about the XBL user numbers. How does this number compare the peak useage?

He's likely wrong by a couple of million (unless the Xbox 360 outsold the Xbox One 3:2 this year, which todays report contradicts), but it depends on your PoV, since this would confirm the Xbox One is indeed selling much better than the 360 as well...which is bad news for some.

And Xbox One will have a better holiday quarter than Sony did in 2008 because of Halo 5.

End of 2007, PS3 was 21.1M, end of this year, One should be about 24.5M, which is a 18% lead over PS3, but a 40% lead over 360.

according to vgchartz ps3 was around 16 million at the same time. Also from the 10 months of last year the x1 sold around 3 million worldwide. According to this its selling less. At the beggining of this year the x1 was at around 11 million according to vgchartz. So if it sold less this year thus far its then x1 >14million.

Not neccessarily. It's being sold for less money than last year.

LUMIA WINDOWS PHONE SHIPMENTS: 5.8 million

Thus is just disappointing, it got really close to ten million in the equivalent quarter back in 2013, I'll try to dig up the numbers.

It is the quarter prior to a major revision/release of both hardware and OS. it was always going to be down.
