Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo NX very likely will have AMD x86 chip, possible 14/16nm

This article is already confirmed wrong since we know that NX won't be coming in 2016.

You are giving Wccftech too much credit. Keep in mind that they are a site that most of the time simply publishes the rumors that are floating around the industry without having any proof or facts to support their claims. That's why their info is either generic or labeled as "rumor".

Exactly. Sounds like guess work.

If it really is AMD64, then BYE BYE to accountability. I don't understand why they don't go 'whole-hog' and use MBR128 architecture. I mean, in 2016, it will pretty much be 'de rigeur.' Still, the epsilon channel might let the whole chip go delta a lot quicker if they get it down a few nanos. But what that does for frame rate, it UN-does for judder and yaw, which are pretty much unacceptable. *sighs* I hope my fears are unjustified, but like people say, this is all pretty much just rumors for now.

I bet it has at least 16GB eFI WeBo, if not full-Gbit pipeline, for the FDAR redraw array.

"All the while backward compatibility to older Wii U games can be maintained through emulators enabled by the significant performance jump that the new x86 CPU is bound to bring."

How true is this line, though?

If you are expecting to come in 2015, then that's not possible anymore. Too late to announce and release in a month. You'd have to wait until next year.

It won't come before 2017. Deal with it.

I can deal with that, it's Nintendo the one that can't deal with another year of terrible sales. But, can you deal its 2016 release?

So much to learn now with Nintendo. Being so quiet has made me go crazy, but it's fun.

The way I see it, a 2016 release is the best chance they have to be on the right part of the zBuffer epsilon falloff curve that will result if they don't dip into the modern GPU pipeline in time. Imagine releasing a console that couldn't do redraws up to par with the packet sniffers we had two, maybe even THREE years back. THAT'S what they'll have to look forward to if they wait until 2017 to dip their toes in the water. Sorry, but it's true. Those micro-meld jBuffers don't reprogram themselves: that's what a GuPU roadmap is for. If they jump in at the wrong time, then BINGO goes the horsey, and they just wasted another half-decade on outrefresh WINdat chips, with nothing to show for it but a linear modeling paradigm that could have been achieved with a bus two THIRDS as nanoscaled. That's a waste they won't be willing to tolerate this time around.
