Forums - Nintendo - Pokken Tournament underperforming in Japanese arcades

I didn't even realize the game had been released in any form to this point but there's already one large arcade threatening to pull the cabinet due to lack of profit and interest.  Players also seem to be  disappointed as the game released with only ten characters (not including assist pokemon), two of which are pikachu, and when you consider there's over 700 pokemon it's hard to blame anyone for being underwhelmed by pokken's offering.  Perhaps pokken tournament can find a more suitable home on the wii u next year but the roster needs to be bolstered regardless.

I take this personally.

Wonder if it will start doing better when it gets released on the Wii U then

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

Wow I had no idea this came out and apparently months ago. I guess so is the case for most people. No wonder it's not popular.

Remember the F-Zero GX and arcade model? I never saw the F-Zero arcade game but it did have an option to insert a GC memory card and transfer data. I know Wii U doesn't have memory cards but that would have been cool if there was a way to do that again.

Anyways, arcades are pretty much dead in USA and I'm surprised they are still alive in Japan.  Sure there are Putt Putt Golf & Games, Dave and Busters, etc... but they have fallen on tough times since the 90s.

Why are they still making arcade games where you have to use your hands...

Arcade machines like these use NFC cards to function. Amiibo could link the arcades with the Wii U. In Japan anyway.

Saw this on gaf, apparently its a little misinformed. I think it was that just 1 place they took out pokken tournament, but as usual media making it look 1000x worse lol!

Sounds like sensationalism bs to be honest.

I could have sworn I've seen more than 9 Pokemon already revealed for the game, but I guess not that's really underwhelming.
