Forums - Gaming - IF MS,Sony and Nintendo Decided to stop making consoles would you stop gaming??.

I'm more or less gaming 100% on PC anyway, so for me it wouldn't be a huge loss. Besides; quite a few of their franchises would have popped up elsewhere instead so the software would still keep coming.

I would just replay old games or game on PC. Mobile gaming is terrible to me so I wouldn't do that. But overall, my gaming time would decrease dramatically.

Wii U NNID:  CWegzz
3DS Friend Code:  4210-5277-5484
PSN:  Ronnoc4
Steam:  CWegz

na i would switch over to pc gaming

No. Aslong as good games continue to get made that dont go off the reasonable in business model i wont quit. Don't care who i at the helm.

Honestly, the one i cared about has gone under and then turned to something very bad (SEGA).

They will stop eventually. Probably streaming services will take over the bulk of what is now console gaming, as a more cost-effective business model, though probably the name Playstation, Xbox etc. will likely still be licensed to third parties to manufacture home (offline) consoles for decades to come.

Either way, playing on PC for a long time alredy, so I don't care much. Though emulators of any console that exists and yet to come are evidently interesting, due to their game library.

Yeah? How many games that are PC exclusive are not free to play or monthly sub.  And even if there are a decent amount, an overwhelming amount of them are microtransaction and monthly sub.  Those require way more time for investment, meaning they exploit the human mind by having addictive game design. There's a major lack of free-to-play on console and there's one monthly sub for all games. The game design philosphy is different because the business model is different. There are games that overlap between PC vs console but judging by the massive software sales difference when you add ps4+xb1 software sales, the amount of those gamers on PC is fairly small in comparison with the rest of that user base. That leads me to the conclusion that most PC gamers are either playing free to play, Micro-Transaction, real-time strategy, MMORPG, RPG, MOBA, monthly sub or some random indie game, right? The exact kind of games that require a lot of investment in time and money to be truly enjoyable? And going off of empirical evidence, the people in real life I do know that are on PC, go hard in the paint when they play and spend what I think is a psychologically unhealthy amount of time sitting in front of that screen.  It's just a personal opinion though and that's the reasoning I have behind it.  My little brother is a PC gamer lol. So yeah.

It seems you have a very warped idea of what PC gaming is all about. You're taking a very small sample and coming up with these grand conclusions that don't reflect the PC gaming industry.

Its something i see a lot of is "If such a company quite id quite" so it leads me to the question of

If the big 3 was to decide "right the is more money in allowing our games on PC/Smartphone, then making our own consoles" and all their games ended up going to PC and smartphones would you stop gaming?. if so why would you stop?.

Now i know its easy to say "Id stop cos i dont want the hassle of a PC" but what if other companys started making console type PC's, like the steambox that could still play all them games from the big 3 would you still quite??.

Tbh I only care for Microsoft console if they stop making it I will say goodbye to gaming

In this scenario, no i wouldn't.

PC/mobile is what i am playing on right now so nothing would change for me anyway

No. I would continue... Why? Because it's a MULTI-BILLION dollar industry another company would step up and fill the void.
