Forums - Gaming - IF MS,Sony and Nintendo Decided to stop making consoles would you stop gaming??.

There are plenty of PC games. If anything I probably would enjoy gaming more since some of the console exclusive games will come to PC.

Definitely not. I would switch to PC and spend the same amount of time gaming, as I do now.

Yeah I would. PC gaming requires too much of an investment in time and I regard it as an unhealthy psychological addiction (my little brother is glued to the screen more often than not and.... I'll say no more about that).

Mobile gaming is just generally boring. Console gaming is accessible for me personally because I can pick up a quick match of CoD or spend a few hours on the weekend playing through campaign mode on some of the newer games, and then there's netflix to fall back on or Spotify if I'm cleaning the house. It's really convenient for the kind of media functions I desire.

The only "requirement" for PC Gaming is how much investment you are willing to put into it.

The wonders of emulations would guarantee me hundreds of games I've never played. Gaming for decades. And there's also PC and mobile.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Naaah, I'd just continue gaming on my PC, no sweat

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Nah. Just like when Atari died, people who wanted to game found a new favorite. If people like gaming, they will continue to play on.

The first part i dont understand how thats anything to do with PC in general since it seems more like a Gaming issue then a PC issue.

-That has everything to do with it being on PC though.  PC has MMORPGs, MOBAs, RTS games, etc.  All games that are designed to eat away at your time, with certain instances where matches can last almost a full day.  There's also many examples of games on PC that charge monthly subscriptions. This is not possible on console.  All online access is channeled through one singular subscription, so my investment does not bind me toward one singular game.  With all that being said, I think that these are psychologically addictive practices. I mean, quite a few PC gamers refer to themselves as the master race. That should tell you all you need to know right there lol.

And the 2nd part, like i said what if other manafactures made console like PC's such as the Steambox that could still play all them games plus PC games and offered the full simple consoles experince, Wouldnt that be just the same thing??.

-Is the steambox really considered a PC though? It's running it's own Operating System.  It can't do all PC like things, it's centered around games. I mean, if there was a Steam console (or steam PC if you want to be picky about it) that could play Spotify, play Netflix, was hooked up to my TV and had all PC games in addition to Sony and Nintendo games....

Well that question is redundant.  Who WOULDN'T want to buy in? So I chose to respond to your title as opposed to your OP.

True but the games are meant to pull you in by design and keep you there.  Many games rely on a monthly subscription on PC.  Games on Console are all under an umbrella service.  In fact, I'd speculate that console games don't want to keep you there - Running the servers costs money and since they aren't charging by the month, there will be a point where it just makes no financial sense to keep the servers up.  This is a polar opposite from games like World of Warcraft where, because they have that monthly income from your wallet going straight to their bank account, it's in their best interest to make that game as addicting as fucking possible.

I hope that's worded in a way that makes sense. Let me know if it doesn't and I'll try to explain it differently.

I would buy the strongest pc and download all emulators available.

I'll stick to PC gaming.
