Forums - Microsoft - Are the people making the most noise about halos splitscreen removel even Halo fans??

I'm not a Halo fan (although I liked very much the first one when I tried it on the original XBox demo units in stores many years ago), so I'm neither disappointed nor angry about it, but I'm quite surprised they removed that feature, as TVs getting larger and larger make it more and more comfortable. If people liked it so much even on old SD CRT TVs, they'll obviously love it even more on large HD LED TVs.

Yes...I'm a pretty big Halo fan, and I've played every main Halo game and my first playthrough has always been done with a friend via split screen co-op.

Losing it in 5 is a huge loss for me.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I'm a big Halo fan and this series is one reason I mainly stick to Xbox. Ofc there are other games that keep me on MS train but Halo has always been the game that kept me on board. That said, removing split screen is a mistake imo. But is it enough doom the game? No in my opinion. Playing Halo coop was really fun and I hope it does make a return in the next installment but for what Halo 5 is going to offer I'm sorry but if one game deserves to be praised for its content it's this one.

I understand op's question though. Halo has always been under strong criticism may it be graphics, not developed by Bungie anymore, Master Chief not the main protagonist etc etc... what history told me is that Halo Reach was an excellent game even though MC wasn't in the game at all. Halo 4 was an excellent game even though it wasn't made by Bungie... Halo 5 will be an excellent game imo...

I think 343i will listen to fans (the ones that actually support Halo) and they will bring splitscreen back for Halo 6.

Played through all the halos split screen. Even played through them again with a mate this year in prep for halo 5. Yes we're upset its been removed

I am surprised by the response of the thread. It is good to see Xbox Fans admitting fault to their biggest exclusive and not being blind accepting everything.

Yeah, says a lot about the fanbase.  A big plus, in my opinion.  Shows that we're pretty honest.  If we like something, we'll voice it and if we don't like something, we don't hesitate to let the world know.

I wouldn't consider myself a fan of Halo, but I have very fond memories of playing Halo splitscreen. Then again, I haven't said anything about them removing splitscreen from Halo 5, so I guess the question isn't aimed at me.

I do find their reasoning behind removing splitscreen a bit odd though. Woudln't it be possible to make it so that when playing singleplayer, the graphics would be at their best, and the framerate would be 60fps, while when playing splitscreen, fps would be reduced or something like that? It may not be ideal, but I think many would like the option.

I've been informed it's not possible from a technological point of view.

No, but at the same time, what is more important. Split screen that only 10 people at max will use or 60fps throughout the game to make the game smoothe for everyone. The choice isn't hard, but go ahead and take your time. No rush.

Just looking at this thread, there are clearly people that are upset by the exclusion of splitscreen play. The population of users is bigger than you think.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Its always loudmouth minorities who makes such accusation. I better play online so that my viewing screen isnt cut in half. Only games that are enjoyable in local CO OP are sports games and Nintendo games which are damn fun.

OPs thread kinda backfired it seems.

Op: i get it, its easier to shrug it off as haters pretending to be fans of halo and finding issue with it, then accept that its a feature a lot of fans are genuinely disappointed to see it gone.

Problem is, a lot of fans are genuinely disappointed to see it gone.

That's because it had a clickbait title and he already knows the answer to the question he posed. He's just looking to ruffle people's feathers.

I've played through Halo 1 with my brother, nephew and several friends. Its the same for Halo 2 and 3.

I've also played through the entire series with my 7 year old and we are revisiting all of them in the MCC, but no I'm just hating because I'm not even a fan.

The story was better when it felt like me and someone I cared about were smashing the Covenant and saving the galaxy, but moar graf!X.

I will be voting with my wallet. I'll not support 343 on this iteration. That isn't to say I won't pick it up used on ebay in a few months.
