Corporal punishment is many times the only effective way to punish a child.  What do you do to a creative five year old?  I'm taking your toys away?  So what?  He'll go have fun playing pretend in the corner.  

parents no longer deal with their children. Most parents both have jobs while the kid stays at home alone or at a daycare. They dont receive any real attention so they dont have any respect towards their parents other then they are the source for food and shelter.

My parents used to beat me.

The sole reason is parenting, if the parents taught their kids a lesson everytime they screwed up we wouldn't have all these obnoxious kids.

Also i think it has something to do with more women in the work force now than usual.

It's because stupid ass parents let their kids walk all over them.

Case in point, when I bought FFCC Ring of Fates at GameStop, a mother was in the store with her 3 kids buying them SSBB. Wouldn't you know that two of the kids were on the Wii kiosk fighting over who's turn it was to play the game their mom was buying for them right at that moment, while the 3rd child literally was screaming "I DON'T WANT THAT GAAAAAAAAME!" In which the mother told him that the game was for the family and not just him, resulting in the continuation of the hissy fit. This eventually led to him picking up random shooters for the 360 and presenting them to her while telling her that she was going to buy that game instead of Brawl. Of course she still bought SSBB but the way those children continued to scream at her and defy her was just...sad.

Blame the parents who have not disciplined the kids. The kids get spoiled too much. The political correctness bullshit is to blame where smacking a child is considered child abuse. Whats better? A smack on a naughty child or allowing that child to grow up to be a criminal. A child is like a puppy dog it needs to be taught the difference between right and wrong. Rewarded for good behaviour and punished for bad behaviour.

I have been a lurker on this site for over a year.  When I saw this thread, I felt compelled to share this with you all.   Here's a passage, straight from the Bible in Second Timothy,  Chapter 3 verse 1:

 ^3:1"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. ^3:2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ^3:3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, ^3:4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God."

Accurately sums up the situation as we see it now doesn't it?
