Forums - General Discussion - why do you believe todays children have less respect for the mums and dads

I agree with the topic but the parents have no respect for kids also! I see moms beating the kids and blaring at them for nothing! Also the kids are into drugs and alcohol which is making them more agressive

Lack of bargaining chips.

All parents should keep new video games locked up. When children start to act up explain they will never get the new game if they don't straighten up.

Short of that

parents should be armed with tazers and drugs.

What if these children don't play video games.

All children can play video games.

Wait a minute, are adults today necessarily as respectful as they once were? Why concentrate on kids?

more than less, it's usually poor parenting when the child is at an early age. as a parent, if you don't set standards and let u'r child know what's wrong and what's right, they're gonna grow up to be little devils and you'll be flabbergasted to see how they act. i see a lot of kids disrespecting their parents (mostly their moms) and the moms are trying to be nice and friendly in their punishments. parents need to lay down the law, u don't have to be 'cute' w/ your kids; a stupid time-out doesn't work people! when i was younger my mom would whip out the belt for the littlest wrongs i committed. as much as it hurt and seemed unfair then, it made me a more respectful son.

Because nowadays, kids think that Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, or Lil Boosie are role models. Nowadays, instead of leaving something to the imagination, music is outright saying "sell drugs", "shoot that bitch", "have sex in the club". Not just niche music, THE MAINSTREAM. Nowadays, porn is too easy to access. I got my first porno (not my parents) when I was twenty! Nowadays, it's impossible to punish a kid. I've been dispatched to more "child abuse" calls -where the kid BEAT UP THE PARENT than I care to remember. -More kids in school with guns, or drugs. -More incidences of under-age sex.

When I was younger, we had our good kids, our bad kids, our cool kids, our nerds, etc. Now, everybody is so damned "cool". Everyone is a carbon copy of everyone else. WTF? I live in a small town in Georgia. How the hell did everyone become iced out, "gangsta grilled", braided up, thugs (I'm black, BTW -and I'm talking about both races. I lived in Atlanta for two years, -got my ass whipped!! If these kids knew what a real gangsta was, they'd shit themselves!

Drug culture is mainstream. Violence is mainstream. Profanity is mainstream. Sex is mainstream. MY GENERATION has pushed the envelope so much, and now it's too late to turn back. But we were certainly entertained, right? If I didn't see it EVERYDAY, maybe I wouldn't be so jaded. As it stands, I seriously fear for our immediate future.

It's the parents fault. Simple as that.

..........I guess it's nothing prescription drugs can't fix. It's not the kid's fault. It's not the parent's fault. They're victims of a medical disorder?? Wonder why there weren't so many disorders when I was a kid? I couldn't even blame Wii-Fit!!

d21lewis, I can't agree with you more.
