It's Nintendo's kind of "soon"... which mean "in the next quarter or so" for the rest of us, mere mortals.

Nintendo had some very powerful dev kits before, if I remember well the ones they had for the Wii U originally had much more powerful CPUs/GPUs ... same for the Game Cube, they both got downgraded at the last minute, pissing off the devs (and causing some projects to be delayed and/or cancelled).

Still, it would be great to have a console more powerful than the PS4 (obviously the XB1 by extension since it's about 50% less to begin with...  it will be laughably under powered by the time the NX is released!).

Agreed. At this point, I'm almost expecting there to be no official release annoucement. Whatever the game is, it'll just appear one day on the iOS app store.

Nintendo quarterly report will be on 28. October, so I expecting reveal of mobile game and Nintendo Direct before quarter report, in next 10 days we will have some interesting stuffs (Nintendo quarterly report and investor meeting itself are very interesting).

That's right, I forgot about the report! I thought the Direct would be either tomorrow or today, but that makes 27-28 Oct a more probable date.

Kinda doubt it to be honest. Even if it were, all multiplatform games would still look pretty much identical as on ps4/ X1 as that would be the lead platform.

Well, the point of the power upgrade is not to become the go-to system to develop, it's to be able to play multiplats without important downgrades. When the PS5 and the XBox Two come out, they'll be more powerful than the NX and become the standard, but by that time, Nintendo may have repaired their third party situation and gotten enough support to sell a decent amount of hardware.

It doesn't mean that Nintendo Direct will be right before quarter report because next week would be too much Nintendo news in few days, I think better chances for Nintendo Direct, new membership program and mobile game revel are this weak.

Whenever it is, I'm sure it will come before the 28th, investors love to see the reaction of the fans (as long as it can be translated into money XD).

PS3 had only life cycle of appox 6 years only which was launched at 2006-07 to 2013 (PS4 launched). This generation going to be even shorter so PS5 will launch in 2018 Holidays with full PS4 compatiblity to catch up with their PS VR games and PS4 will still receive support for 2 more years like PS3 did, so ultimately PS4 going to get support around 6-7 years before Sony pulls the plug.

We can say same thing for Wii U also which had poor launch library even though it had more time for first party to get ready. These days AAA games need around 2-3 years so its not easy for nintendo to get ready for next year in 2 years even if they started development in 2014. So even if NX home console launched in 2016 then it will have same fate of poor launch library which is why im thinkg that NX home console will come in 2017.

I agree that NX will b cheaper or same as PS4 but wont be powerful than PS4.
