Forums - Sony - Yakuza 5 Releasing in the West in Mid-November: Hallelujah!

The western release of Yakuza 5 has been in a bit of a limbo since the announcement quite a while ago, but apparently Sega is finally getting around to fulfilling that promise, as mentioned today in a blog post.

“It’s been a while since we’ve talked about Yakuza 5, so we wanted to post a quick update on it. As you know, the digital pre-order lists “Dec. 31, 2015” as the release date. Fortunately, this is not the case – it looks like we’ll be releasing the game mid-November, if all goes to schedule.

Unfortunately, it’s a little later than we would’ve liked, and a few weird development bugs that popped up in localization caused the delay. Without getting too technical, there were just certain parts that didn’t like switching the Japanese text out for English, and we had to actually search through the source code to find a fix, taking more time than we expected. But! Everything is more or less back on track. Once we have details beyond just “mid-November,” we’ll make sure to share them!”

Good job Sega West. By mid-November you’ll just be two and a half games and a whole console late. Ha!

Great that they're being so transparent. Thought I still stand by the idea that not localizing the VA in this game makes it DOA. Shame.

You mean, good job sony ?

Without them, Yakuza 5 would still be only jp.

If you want Yakuza 6 (and 0 ?) here, then ppl need to ask sony again, not sega.

I'm all Yakuzaed out after 4.

None of the previous ones had english voice overs (3 and 4 at aleast). It is completely silly from a story pov, but you may have a point. Most westerners are alergic to Japanese.

As for the game itself, i'm not sure i will get it yet. I have better stuff to play. If they confirm a western release for Yakuza 6 i'm more likely to get it.

No physical master race support tho D:

That's because physical is for peasants.

*I'm obviously joking, mods.

Bought. I hope it´s not too close to Bloodborne DLC.
I don´t care for fallout, so the sooner on November the better for me.

What about Yakuza tells you that it's target market wouldn't be a fan of Japanese voices?

I still need to get into this series. Perhaps by the time I get around to picking up and playing the previous four entries, the fifth one will exist in a physical form and the other entries will have been localised.
